1主よ、助けてください。敬虔な者は絶え、 誠実な者は人の子らの中から消え去ったからだ。
1(12-1) For the Leader; on the Sheminith. A Psalm of David. (12-2) Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2人は皆、隣人に偽りを語り、 へつらう唇と二心をもって語る。
2(12-3) They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour; with flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.
3主がすべてのへつらう唇と、 大言を吐く舌を断ち切ってくださいますように。
3(12-4) May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things!
4彼らは言う。「私たちは舌によって打ち勝つ。 私たちの唇は私たちのものだ。 誰が私たちの主なのか」と。
4(12-5) Who have said: 'Our tongue will we make mighty; our lips are with us: who is lord over us?'
5主は言われる。「弱い者が虐げられ、貧しい者がうめいているので、 今、私は立ち上がる。 私は彼をあざける者から守り、安全な所に置く」と。
5(12-6) 'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise', saith the LORD; 'I will set him in safety at whom they puff.'
6主の言葉は混じりけのない言葉、 土の炉で精錬され、七度清められた銀のようである。
6(12-7) The words of the LORD are pure words, as silver tried in a crucible on the earth, refined seven times.
7主よ、あなたは彼らを守り、 この世代からとこしえまでも保たれる。
7(12-8) Thou wilt keep them, O LORD; Thou wilt preserve us from this generation for ever.
8人の子らの間で卑しいものが高く上げられるとき、 悪者たちは至る所を歩き回る。
8(12-9) The wicked walk on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
