1沈黙している者たちよ、あなたがたは本当に義を語るのか。 人の子らよ、あなたがたは正しく裁くのか。
1(58-1) For the Leader; Al-tashheth. A Psalm of David; Michtam. (58-2) Do ye indeed speak as a righteous company? Do ye judge with equity the sons of men?
2いや、あなたがたは心の中で不義を企み、 その手の暴力を地に量り分けている。
2(58-3) Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh out in the earth the violence of your hands.
3悪者たちは母の胎から迷い出ている。 生まれた時から道を外れ、偽りを語る。
3(58-4) The wicked are estranged from the womb; the speakers of lies go astray as soon as they are born.
4彼らの毒は蛇の毒のようであり、 耳をふさぐ、耳の聞こえないコブラのようである。
4(58-5) Their venom is like the venom of a serpent; they are like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ear;
5それは呪文を唱える者の声を聞かず、 どれほど巧みな呪文にも耳を貸さない。
5(58-6) Which hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, or of the most cunning binder of spells.
6神よ、彼らの口の中の歯を折ってください。 主よ、若い獅子の大きな牙を打ち砕いてください。
6(58-7) Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth; break out the cheek-teeth of the young lions, O LORD.
7流れ去る水のように、彼らを消え去らせてください。 彼らが弓を引くとき、その矢を鈍くしてください。
7(58-8) Let them melt away as water that runneth apace; when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.
8溶けて過ぎ去るかたつむりのようにしてください。 日の光を見なかった死産の子のように。
8(58-9) Let them be as a snail which melteth and passeth away; like the untimely births of a woman, that have not seen the sun.
9あなたがたの鍋がいばらの火を感じる前に、 神は生のいばらも燃えるいばらも、つむじ風で吹き払われる。
9(58-10) Before your pots can feel the thorns, He will sweep it away with a whirlwind, the raw and the burning alike.
10義人は復讐を見て喜び、 悪者の血で自分の足を洗う。
10(58-11) The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11それで人々は言うだろう。「まことに、義人には報いがある。 まことに、地を裁く神がおられる。」
11(58-12) And men shall say: 'Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.'
