1ペルシア王クロスの第一年、エレミヤの口を通して語られた主のことばが成就するため、主はペルシア王クロスの霊を奮い立たせられた。そこでクロスは王国全土に布告を出し、文書にも記して、こう告げた。
1NOW IN the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying:
2「ペルシア王クロスはこう言う。『天の神である主は、地上のすべての王国を私に与え、ユダにあるエルサレムに、ご自分のための家を建てるよう私に命じられた。
2'Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD, the God of heaven, given me; and He hath charged me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
3あなたがたのうち、主の民に属する者はだれでも、その神がともにおられるように。その者はユダにあるエルサレムへ上り、エルサレムにおられるイスラエルの神、主の家を建てよ。主こそ神である。
3Whosoever there is among you of all His people — his God be with him — let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD, the God of Israel, He is the God who is in Jerusalem.
4残された者がどこに住んでいようとも、その土地の人々は銀、金、品物、家畜をもってその者を助け、さらにエルサレムにある神の家のために自発のささげ物をささげよ。』」
4And whosoever is left, in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill-offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.'
5そこで、ユダとベニヤミンの父祖の家の長たち、祭司たち、レビ人たち、すなわち、エルサレムにある主の家を建てるために上るよう神がその霊を奮い立たせられたすべての者が立ち上がった。
5Then rose up the heads of fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
6周囲の人々は皆、自発のささげ物のほかにも、銀の器、金、品物、家畜、高価な品々を与えて彼らを支援した。
6And all they that were round about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.
7また、クロス王は、ネブカドネザルがエルサレムから持ち出し、自分の神々の家に置いていた主の家の器を取り出した。
7Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
8ペルシア王クロスは、宝物倉の管理者ミトレダテを通してそれらを取り出し、数を確かめてユダの君シェシュバツァルに渡した。
8even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
9それらの数は次のとおりである。金の平皿が三十、銀の平皿が一千、小刀が二十九、
9And this is the number of them: thirty basins of gold, a thousand basins of silver, nine and twenty knives;
10金の鉢が三十、第二種の銀の鉢が四百十、その他の器が一千。
10thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.
11金銀の器は全部で五千四百点であった。捕囚の民がバビロンからエルサレムへ上ったとき、シェシュバツァルはこれらすべてを携えて行った。
11All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up, when they of the captivity were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
