1A Song of Ascents; of David. 'If it had not been the LORD who was for us', let Israel now say;
1Посходня пісня Давидова. Як би не Господь, що був з нами — скажи бо Ізраїлю! —
2'If it had not been the LORD who was for us, when men rose up against us,
2Як би не був Господь з нами, коли люде проти нас встали,
3Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
3То живцем проковтнули б нас, як запалав гнїв їх проти нас;
4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul;
4Затопили би нас води, рвучі потоки залили б душу нашу;
5Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.'
5З шумом пронесли б ся буйні води понад душею нашою.
6Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
6Благословен Господь, що не дав нас зубам їх на здобич.
7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
7Душа наша спаслась, як пташина із сельця птахоловця; сельце розірвалось, і ми спаслися.
8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
8Поміч наша в імени Господа, що сотворив небо і землю.
