1A Song of Ascents; of David. 'If it had not been the LORD who was for us', let Israel now say;
1Se não fosse o SENHOR, que esteve do nosso lado, que Israel diga agora:
2'If it had not been the LORD who was for us, when men rose up against us,
2se não fosse o SENHOR, que esteve do nosso lado, quando os homens se levantaram contra nós,
3Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
3então eles nos teriam engolido vivos, quando a sua ira se acendeu contra nós;
4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul;
4então as águas nos teriam encoberto, a torrente teria passado sobre a nossa alma.
5Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.'
5Então as águas altivas teriam passado sobre a nossa alma.
6Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
6Bendito seja o SENHOR, que não nos entregou como presa aos dentes deles.
7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
7A nossa alma escapou como um pássaro do laço do passarinheiro. O laço quebrou-se, e nós escapamos.
8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
8O nosso socorro está no nome do SENHOR, que fez os céus e a terra.
