1A Song of Ascents; of David. 'If it had not been the LORD who was for us', let Israel now say;
1Aicae bangah Angraeng om ai nahaeloe, Israelnawk mah hae tiah thui o nasoe;
2'If it had not been the LORD who was for us, when men rose up against us,
2aicae bangah Angraeng om ai nahaeloe, kaminawk loe aicae ih misa ah om o tih,
3Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
3nihcae mah aicae han palung ang phui o thuih naah, aicae to kahing ah na paaeh o tih boeh;
4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul;
4kalen tui mah aicae khuk khoep ueloe, aicae pakhra nuiah tui to long tih boeh;
5Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.'
5kamoek tuinawk loe aicae pakhra nuiah long o tih boeh.
6Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
6Nihcae mah aicae haa hoi kaek hanah paek ai, Angraeng loe tahamhoihaih om nasoe.
7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
7Aicae ih pakhra loe dongh patung kami ih dongh thung hoi kaloih tavaa baktiah loih o; dongh qui to apet dok moe, aicae loe a loih o.
8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
8Aicae abomhaih loe van hoi long sahkung, Angraeng ih ahmin ah ni oh.
