1BOOK III A Psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, even to such as are pure in heart.
1Sithaw loe poekciim kami hoi Israelnawk nuiah hoih tangtang.
2But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
2Toe ka khok loe amthaek tom boeh; kang doethaih ahmuen angthuih tom boeh.
3For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
3Poeksae kaminawk mah hnuk o ih tahamhoihaih to ka hnuk naah, amthu kaminawk to ka khit moeng boeh.
4For there are no pangs at their death, and their body is sound.
4Nihcae loe duek naah patangkhang o ai; ngantui o moe, thacak o.
5In the trouble of man they are not; neither are they plagued like men.
5Nihcae loe minawk kalah baktiah raihaih panoek o ai; minawk baktiah patang o ai.
6Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; violence covereth them as a garment.
6To pongah amoekhaih to bungmu baktiah a oih o; pacaekthlaekhaih to khukbuen baktiah angkhuk o.
7Their eyes stand forth from fatness; they are gone beyond the imaginations of their heart.
7Hmuenmae hoi angraeng o pongah, nihcae ih mik loe tasa bangah tacawt dok; nihcae loe palung thung hoi poek ih hmuen pongah kamthlai ah koeh o.
8They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression; they speak as if there were none on high.
8Nihcae mah kahoih ai pacaekthlaekhaih to pahnuih o thuih; amoekhaih lok apaeh o.
9They have set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
9Nihcae loe pakha hoiah vannawk to kasae thuih o moe, palai to long pum ah amkaeh o sak.
10Therefore His people return hither; and waters of fullness are drained out by them.
10To pongah Sithaw mah angmah ih kaminawk to amlaemsak let moe, a paek ih tui to kamhah ah naek o.
11And they say: 'How doth God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?'
11Nihcae mah, Kawbangmaw Sithaw mah panoek tih? Kasang koek ah kaom loe panoekhaih tawnh maw? tiah thuih o.
12Behold, such are the wicked; and they that are always at ease increase riches.
12Khenah, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk loe hae tiah oh o; nihcae loe long nuiah khosak hoih o moe, angraeng o aep aep.
13Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocency;
14For all the day have I been plagued, and my chastisement came every morning.
14Ni thokkruek patang ka khang, akhawnbang kruek thuitaekhaih to ka tongh.
15If I had said: 'I will speak thus', behold, I had been faithless to the generation of Thy children.
16And when I pondered how I might know this, it was wearisome in mine eyes;
16Hae hmuen hae kawbangmaw ka panoek thaih han, tiah ka poek naah, kai hanah loe panoek han rai parai hmuen ah oh;
17Until I entered into the sanctuary of God, and considered their end.
17hnukkhuem ah loe Sithaw ih hmuenciim thungah ka phak, to naah ni to hmuennawk boenghaih to ka panoek thai vop.
18Surely Thou settest them in slippery places; Thou hurlest them down to utter ruin.
18Tangtang thuih nahaeloe nang mah ni nihcae to kamnae ahmuen ah na suek moe, nihcae to amrohaih thungah na vah.
19How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are wholly consumed by terrors.
19Nihcae loe kawbangmaw, nawnetta thungah amro o halat! Hnukkhuem ah loe zitthok hmuen mah nihcae to paduek boih boeh.
20As a dream when one awaketh, so, O Lord, when Thou arousest Thyself, Thou wilt despise their semblance.
20Kami mah angthawk naah amang to poek baktih toengah, Aw Angraeng, nang thawk tahang naah, nihcae poekhaih to tiah doeh sah pae hmah.
21For my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins.
21To tiah palung ka nat moe, ka poekhaih anghmang sut.
22But I was brutish, and ignorant; I was as a beast before Thee.
23Nevertheless I am continually with Thee; Thou holdest my right hand.
24Thou wilt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me with glory.
25Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And beside Thee I desire none upon earth.
25Nang ai ah loe van ah ka tawnh ih mi maw oh vop? Nang pacoengah loe long nuiah ka koeh ih mi doeh om ai.
26My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever.
26Ka ngan hoi ka palung loe amro boeh; toe Sithaw loe ka palungthin thacakhaih ah oh moe, dungzan ah kai ih taham ah ni oh.
27For, lo, they that go far from Thee shall perish; Thou dost destroy all them that go astray from Thee.
27Khenah, nang hoi angthla kaminawk loe amro o boih tih; nang khae hoi amkhraeng moe, oep om ai ah khosah kaminawk loe nam rosak boih tih.
28But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works.
