1If it had not been that the Lord was with us, let Israel now say:
1Если бы не Господь был с нами, - да скажет Израиль,-
2If it had not been that the Lord was with us, When men rose up against us,
2если бы не Господь был с нами, когда восстали на нас люди,
3Perhaps they had swallowed us up alive. When their fury was enkindled against us,
3то живых они поглотили бы нас, когда возгорелась ярость их на нас;
4Perhaps the waters had swallowed us up.
4воды потопили бы нас, поток прошел быв над душею нашею;
5Our soul hath passed through a torrent: perhaps our soul had passed through a water insupportable.
5прошли бы над душею нашею воды бурные.
6Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us to be a prey to their teeth.
6Благословен Господь, Который не дал нас в добычу зубам их!
7Our soul hath been delivered as a sparrow out of the snare of the followers. The snare is broken, and we are delivered.
7Душа наша избавилась, как птица, из сети ловящих: сеть расторгнута, и мы избавились.
8Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
8Помощь наша - в имени Господа, сотворившего небо и землю.
