1על נהרות בבל שם ישבנו גם בכינו בזכרנו את ציון׃
1Apud la riveroj de Babel Ni sidis kaj ploris, Rememorante Cionon.
2על ערבים בתוכה תלינו כנרותינו׃
2Sur la salikoj tie Ni pendigis niajn harpojn.
3כי שם שאלונו שובינו דברי שיר ותוללינו שמחה שירו לנו משיר ציון׃
3Ĉar tie niaj kaptintoj postulis de ni kantojn, Kaj niaj mokantoj ĝojon, dirante: Kantu al ni el la kantoj de Cion.
4איך נשיר את שיר יהוה על אדמת נכר׃
4Kiel ni kantos sur fremda tero La kanton de la Eternulo?
5אם אשכחך ירושלם תשכח ימיני׃
5Se mi forgesos vin, ho Jerusalem, Tiam forgesiĝu mia dekstra mano;
6תדבק לשוני לחכי אם לא אזכרכי אם לא אעלה את ירושלם על ראש שמחתי׃
6Algluiĝu mia lango al mia palato, Se mi vin ne memoros, Se mi ne levos Jerusalemon en la supron de miaj ĝojoj.
7זכר יהוה לבני אדום את יום ירושלם האמרים ערו ערו עד היסוד בה׃
7Rememorigu, ho Eternulo, al la filoj de Edom La tagon de Jerusalem, kiam ili diris: Detruu, detruu ĝis ĝia fundamento.
8בת בבל השדודה אשרי שישלם לך את גמולך שגמלת לנו׃
8Ho ruinigema filino de Babel! Bone estos al tiu, Kiu repagos al vi por la faro, kiun vi faris al ni.
9אשרי שיאחז ונפץ את עלליך אל הסלע׃
9Bone estos al tiu, Kiu prenos kaj frakasos viajn infanetojn sur ŝtono.
