1Да, сребро има жице, и злато има место где се топи.
1For there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.
2Гвожђе се вади из праха, и из камена се топи бронза.
2Iron is taken out of the dust, and brass is molten out of the stone.
3Мраку поставља међу, и све истражује човек до краја, и камење у тами и у сену смртном.
3Man setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.
4Река навре с места свог да јој нико не може приступити; али се одбије и одлази трудом човечјим.
4He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot that passeth by; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
5Из земље излази хлеб, и под њом је друго, као огањ.
5As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
6У камену је њеном место сафиру, а онде је прах златни.
6The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
7Те стазе не зна птица, нити је виде око крагујево;
7That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon's eye seen it;
8Не угази је младо зверје, нити њом прође лав.
8The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.
9На кремен диже руку своју; превраћа горе из дна.
9He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10Из стене изводи потоке, и свашта драгоцено види Му око.
10He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11Уставља реке да не теку, и шта је сакривено износи на видело.
11He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12Али мудрост где се налази? И где је место разуму?
12But wisdom, where shall it be found? And where is the place of understanding?
13Не зна јој човек цене, нити се находи у земљи живих.
13Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14Бездана вели: Није у мени; и море вели: Није код мене.
14The deep saith: 'It is not in me'; and the sea saith: 'It is not with me.'
15Не може се дати чисто злато за њу, нити се сребро измерити у промену за њу.
15It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16Не може се ценити златом офирским, ни драгим онихом ни сафиром.
16It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17Не може се наједначити с њом ни злато ни кристал, нити се може променити за закладе златне.
17Gold and glass cannot equal it; neither shall the exchange thereof be vessels of fine gold.
18Од корала и бисера нема спомена, јер је вредност мудрости већа него драгом камењу.
18No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19Не може се с њом изједначити топаз етиопски, нити се може ценити чистим златом.
19The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20Откуда, дакле, долази мудрост? И где је место разуму?
20Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
21Сакривена је од очију сваког живог, и од птица небеских заклоњена.
21Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22Погибао и смрт говоре: Ушима својим чусмо славу њену.
22Destruction and Death say: 'We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.'
23Бог зна пут њен, и познаје место њено.
23God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.
24Јер гледа до крајева земаљских и види све што је под свим небом.
24For He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25Кад даваше ветру тежину, и мераше воду мером,
25When He maketh a weight for the wind, and meteth out the waters by measure.
26Кад постављаше закон дажду и пут муњи громовној.
26When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the storm of thunders;
27Још је онда виде и огласи је, уреди је и претражи је.
27Then did He see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.
28А човеку рече: Гле, страх је Божји мудрост, и уклањати се ода зла јесте разум.
28And unto man He said: 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.'
