1Een loflied van David. Ik wil U verheffen, mijn God en mijn Koning Uw Naam in eeuwigheid loven;
1A Psalm of praise; of David. I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2Ik wil U zegenen iedere dag, Uw Naam verheerlijken voor altijd en eeuwig.
2Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3Groot is Jahweh, en hooggeprezen, Zijn majesteit is niet te doorgronden!
3Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.
4Van geslacht tot geslacht zal men uw werken verheffen, En uw machtige daden vermelden;
4One generation shall laud Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5Van de heerlijke luister van uw Majesteit spreken, En uw wonderen bezingen;
5The glorious splendour of Thy majesty, and Thy wondrous works, will I rehearse.
6Van de macht uwer ontzaglijke daden gewagen, En uw grootheid verkonden!
6And men shall speak of the might of Thy tremendous acts; and I will tell of Thy greatness.
7Men zal de roem van uw onmetelijke goedheid verbreiden, En over uw goedertierenheid jubelen:
7They shall utter the fame of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8“Genadig en barmhartig is Jahweh, Lankmoedig, vol goedheid;
8The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9Goedertieren is Jahweh voor allen, Zijn barmhartigheid strekt zich over al zijn schepselen uit!”
9The LORD is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.
10Al uw werken zullen U loven, o Jahweh, En uw vromen zullen U prijzen;
10All Thy works shall praise Thee, O LORD; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.
11Ze zullen de glorie van uw Koningschap roemen, En uw almacht verkonden:
11They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy might;
12Om de kinderen der mensen uw kracht te doen kennen, En de heerlijke glans van uw Rijk.
12To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glory of the majesty of His kingdom.
13Uw Koningschap is een koningschap voor alle eeuwen, Uw heerschappij blijft van geslacht tot geslacht! Trouw is Jahweh in al zijn beloften, En in al zijn werken vol goedheid.
13Thy kingdom is a kingdom for all ages, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14Jahweh stut die dreigen te vallen, En die gebukt gaan, richt Hij weer op.
14The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that are bowed down.
15Aller ogen zien naar U uit, Gij geeft voedsel aan allen, elk op zijn tijd;
15The eyes of all wait for Thee, and Thou givest them their food in due season.
16Gij opent uw handen, En verzadigt naar hartelust al wat leeft!
16Thou openest Thy hand, and satisfiest every living thing with favour.
17Goedertieren is Jahweh in al zijn wegen, En in al zijn werken vol liefde.
17The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and gracious in all His works.
18Jahweh is allen, die Hem roepen, nabij: Allen, die oprecht tot Hem bidden.
18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
19Hij vervult de wensen van hen, die Hem vrezen; Hij hoort hun smeken, en komt ze te hulp.
19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20Jahweh behoedt wie Hem liefheeft, Maar vernielt alle bozen!
20The LORD preserveth all them that love Him; but all the wicked will He destroy.
21Mijn mond zal de lof van Jahweh verkonden; Alle vlees zijn heilige Naam zegenen voor eeuwig!
21My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD; and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.
