1Een bedevaartslied. Blijf David gedenken, o Jahweh, En alle moeite, die hij zich troostte,
1A Song of Ascents. LORD, remember unto David all his affliction;
2Omdat hij Jahweh had gezworen, Jakobs Sterke had beloofd:
2How he swore unto the LORD, and vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:
3Ik zal mijn woontent niet ingaan, Mijn legerstede niet beklimmen,
3'Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor go up into the bed that is spread for me;
4Mijn ogen geen slaap gunnen, Mijn wimpers geen sluimer:
4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, nor slumber to mine eyelids;
5Voordat ik een plaats heb gevonden voor Jahweh, Voor Jakobs Sterke een woning!
5Until I find out a place for the LORD, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.'
6Zie, wij hoorden, dat zij in Efráta was, Wij vonden haar weer in de velden van Jáar;
6Lo, we heard of it as being in Ephrath; we found it in the field of the wood.
7Laat ons naar zijn Woning gaan, En ons voor zijn voetbank werpen!
7Let us go into His dwelling-place; let us worship at His footstool.
8Jahweh, trek op naar uw rustplaats, Gij zelf en de ark uwer glorie!
8Arise, O LORD, unto Thy resting-place; Thou, and the ark of Thy strength.
9Mogen uw priesters met gerechtigheid worden bekleed, En uw vromen een jubellied zingen!
9Let Thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let Thy saints shout for joy.
10Om wille van David, uw dienaar, Wijs het gebed van uw gezalfde niet af!
10For Thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of Thine anointed.
11En Jahweh heeft aan David gezworen, Een trouwe Belofte, waarvan Hij niet afwijkt: Van de vrucht van uw schoot Zet Ik er een op uw troon!
11The LORD swore unto David in truth; He will not turn back from it: 'Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12En zo uw zonen mijn verbond onderhouden, En de vermaningen, die Ik hun gaf, Dan zullen ook hùn zonen voor eeuwig Op uw troon blijven zitten!
12If thy children keep My covenant and My testimony that I shall teach them, their children also for ever shall sit upon thy throne.'
13Want Jahweh heeft Sion verkoren, En Zich tot woning begeerd!
13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for His habitation:
14“Hij is mijn rustplaats voor eeuwig; Hier wil Ik wonen, want hèm heb Ik verkoren!
14'This is My resting-place for ever; here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
15Zijn mondkost zal Ik ruimschoots zegenen, Zijn armen verzadigen met brood;
15I will abundantly bless her provision; I will give her needy bread in plenty.
16Zijn priesters zal Ik met heil bekleden. Zijn vromen zullen een jubellied zingen!
16Her priests also will I clothe with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17Hier zal Ik David een Hoorn doen ontspruiten, Een lamp ontsteken voor mijn Gezalfde;
17There will I make a horn to shoot up unto David, there have I ordered a lamp for Mine anointed.
18Zijn vijanden zal Ik met schande bedekken, Mijn kroon zal schitteren op zijn hoofd!”
18His enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown shine.'
