1Van David. Tot U roep ik, Jahweh, mijn Rots! Ach, houd U voor mij niet doof: Opdat ik, als Gij blijft zwijgen, Niet gelijk word aan hen, die in het graf zijn gedaald.
1A Psalm of David. Unto thee, O LORD, do I call; my Rock, be not Thou deaf unto me; lest, if Thou be silent unto me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2Hoor, Jahweh, mijn zuchten, Nu ik tot U smeek, En mijn handen hef Naar uw heilige woning.
2Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto Thee, when I lift up my hands toward Thy holy Sanctuary.
3Werp mij niet weg met de bozen, Niet weg met de zondaars, Die lief doen tegen hun naaste, Maar met venijn in het hart.
3Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity; who speak peace with their neighbours, but evil is in their hearts.
4Zet ze hun werken betaald, En hun schandelijk gedrag; Vergeld ze het werk hunner handen, En geef hun wat ze verdienen.
4Give them according to their deeds, and according to the evil of their endeavours; give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5Want ze begrijpen niets van Jahweh’s daden, Niets van wat door zijn hand werd verricht; Daarom breekt Hij ze af, En bouwt ze niet op!
5Because they give no heed to the works of the LORD, nor to the operation of His hands; He will break them down and not build them up.
6Geprezen zij Jahweh! Want Hij heeft mijn smeken gehoord;
6Blessed be the LORD, because He hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7Jahweh is mijn schuts en mijn schild. Als mijn hart op Hem hoopt, word ik zeker geholpen; Daarom jubelt mijn hart, en zegen ik Hem met mijn lied!
7The LORD is my strength and my shield, in Him hath my heart trusted, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song will I praise Him.
8Jahweh is een schuts voor zijn volk, En voor zijn Gezalfde een machtige hulp.
8The LORD is a strength unto them; and He is a stronghold of salvation to His anointed.
9Red dus uw volk en zegen uw erfdeel; Weid hen en leid hen voor eeuwig!
9Save Thy people, and bless Thine inheritance; and tend them, and carry them for ever.
