Petrus Canisius Bible, 1939 (De Heilige Schrift)
1Out of the depths I have cried to thee, O Lord:
1Een bedevaartslied. Van jongs af heeft men wreed mij mishandeld, Mag Israël wel zeggen;
2Lord, hear my voice. Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
2Mij hardvochtig gekweld sinds mijn jeugd, Maar nooit mij gebroken.
3If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it.
3Ploegers hebben mijn rug beploegd, En lange voren getrokken;
4For with thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of thy law, I have waited for thee, O Lord. My soul hath relied on his word:
4Maar Jahweh bleef trouw: De riemen der bozen sneed Hij stuk.
5My soul hath hoped in the Lord.
5Beschaamd moeten vluchten Alle haters van Sion.
6From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
6Ze zullen worden als gras op de daken, Dat vóór het opschiet, verdort;
7Because with the Lord there is mercy: and with him plentiful redemption.
7Waarmee geen maaier zijn hand kan vullen, Geen hooier zijn arm.
8And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
8En niemand zal in het voorbijgaan zeggen: “De zegen van Jahweh over u; Wij zegenen u in Jahweh’s Naam!”
