1そこでシュア人ビルダデが答えた。
1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2あなたはいつまで言葉を探し求めるのか。 よく考えよ。その後で私たちは語ろう。
2How long will ye lay snares for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
3なぜ私たちは動物とみなされ、 あなたの目には汚れたものとなっているのか。
3Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed dull in your sight?
4怒りのあまり自分自身を引き裂く者よ。 あなたのために地が見捨てられるだろうか。 あるいは、岩がその場所から移されるだろうか。
4Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
5そうだ、悪者の光は消され、 その火の火花は輝かない。
5Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6その天幕の中の光は暗くなり、 彼の上にあるともしびは消される。
6The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp over him shall be put out.
7彼の力強い歩みは狭められ、 彼自身の企てが彼を倒す。
7The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
8彼は自分の足で網に入り、 その網目の上を歩くからだ。
8For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon the toils.
9罠が彼のかかとを捕らえ、 落とし穴が彼を捕らえる。
9A gin shall take him by the heel, and a snare shall lay hold on him.
10彼のための輪縄が土の中に隠され、 彼のための罠が道にある。
10A noose is hid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
11四方から恐怖が彼を怯えさせ、 彼の足元を追い立てる。
11Terrors shall overwhelm him on every side, and shall entrap him at his feet.
12その力は飢え衰え、 災難が彼のそばで待ち構えている。
12His trouble shall be ravenous, and calamity shall be ready for his fall.
13その皮膚は食い破られ、 死の初子がその手足を食い尽くす。
13It shall devour the members of his body, yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.
14彼は安全な天幕から引き抜かれ、 恐怖の王のもとへ連れて行かれる。
14That wherein he trusteth shall be plucked out of his tent; and he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
15彼と無縁のものが、その天幕に住む。 硫黄が彼の住まいにまき散らされる。
15There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his; brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16下では彼の根が干からび、 上では彼の枝が切り落とされる。
16His roots shall dry up beneath, and above shall his branch wither.
17彼の記憶は地から滅び去り、 通りに彼の名はなくなる。
17His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name abroad.
18彼は光から暗闇へと追い立てられ、 世界から追い出される。
18He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
19彼には、自分の民の間に息子も孫もなく、 彼が住んでいた所に残る者は誰もいない。
19He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
20後に来る者たちは、その運命に驚き、 先の者たちは恐れおののく。
20They that come after shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before are affrighted.
21まことに、不義な者の住まいはこのようである。 これが神を知らない者の場所である。
21Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
