1Unto the end, in verses, a psalm for David, for the octave.
1Au chef des chantres. Avec instruments à cordes. Sur la harpe à huit cordes. Psaume de David.
2O Lord, rebuke me not in thy indignation, nor chastise me in thy wrath.
2Éternel! ne me punis pas dans ta colère, Et ne me châtie pas dans ta fureur.
3Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.
3Aie pitié de moi, Éternel! Car je suis sans force; Guéris-moi, Éternel! Car mes os sont tremblants.
4And my soul is troubled exceedingly: but thou, O Lord, how long?
4Mon âme est toute troublée; Et toi, Éternel! Jusques à quand?…
5Turn to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercy’s sake.
5Reviens, Éternel! Délivre mon âme; Sauve-moi, à cause de ta miséricorde.
6For there is no one in death, that is mindful of thee: and who shall confess to thee in hell?
6Car celui qui meurt n’a plus ton souvenir; Qui te louera dans le séjour des morts?
7I have laboured in my groanings, every night I will wash my bed: I will water my couch with my tears.
7Je m’épuise à force de gémir; Chaque nuit ma couche est baignée de mes larmes, Mon lit est arrosé de mes pleurs.
8My eye is troubled through indignation: I have grown old amongst all my enemies.
8J’ai le visage usé par le chagrin; Tous ceux qui me persécutent le font vieillir.
9Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity: for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.
9Éloignez-vous de moi, vous tous qui faites le mal! Car l’Éternel entend la voix de mes larmes;
10The Lord hath heard my supplication: the Lord hath received my prayer.
10L’Éternel exauce mes supplications, L’Éternel accueille ma prière.
11Let all my enemies be ashamed, and be very much troubled: let them be turned back, and be ashamed very speedily.
11Tous mes ennemis sont confondus, saisis d’épouvante; Ils reculent, soudain couverts de honte.
