1Then Job answered and said:
1А Јов одговори и рече:
2Even to-day is my complaint bitter; my hand is become heavy because of my groaning.
2Још је тужњава моја одмет? А невоља је моја тежа од уздаха мојих.
3Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat!
3О, кад бих знао како бих нашао Бога! Да отидем до престола Његовог,
4I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
4Да разложим пред Њим парбу своју, и уста своја напуним разлога,
5I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say unto me.
5Да знам шта би ми одговорио, и разумем шта би ми рекао.
6Would He contend with me in His great power? Nay; but He would give heed unto me.
6Би ли се према великој својој сили прео са мном? Не; него би ми помогао.
7There the upright might reason with Him; so should I be delivered for ever from my Judge.
7Онде би се праведан човек могао правдати с Њим, и ослободио бих се за свагда од свог судије.
8Behold, I go forward, but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
8Гле, ако пођем напред, нема Га; ако ли натраг, не находим Га;
9On the left hand, when He doth work, but I cannot behold Him, He turneth Himself to the right hand, but I cannot see Him.
9Ако на лево ради, не видим Га; ако на десно, заклонио се, не могу Га видети.
10For He knoweth the way that I take; when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
10Али Он зна пут мој; кад ме окуша, изаћи ћу као злато.
11My foot hath held fast to His steps, His way have I kept, and turned not aside.
11По стопама је Његовим ступала нога моја; пута Његова држао сам се, и не зађох.
12I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured up the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
12Од заповести уста Његових нисам одступао; чувао сам речи уста Његових више него свој ужитак.
13But He is at one with Himself, and who can turn Him? And what His soul desireth, even that He doeth.
13Али кад Он шта науми, ко ће Га одвратити? Шта душа Његова зажели, оно чини.
14For He will perform that which is appointed for me; and many such things are with Him.
14И извршиће шта је наумио за ме; и тога има у Њега много.
15Therefore am I affrighted at His presence; when I consider, I am afraid of Him.
15Зато сам се уплашио од Њега; и кад то мислим, страх ме је од Њега.
16Yea, God hath made my heart faint, and the Almighty hath affrighted me;
16Бог је растопио срце моје, Свемогући ме је уплашио.
17Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did He cover the thick darkness from my face.
17Што не погибох пре мрака? И што не сакри мрак испред мене?
