Job 23

1Then Job answered and said:
1И отвечал Иов и сказал:
2Even to-day is my complaint bitter; my hand is become heavy because of my groaning.
2еще и ныне горька речь моя: страдания мои тяжелее стонов моих.
3Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat!
3О, если бы я знал, где найти Его, и мог подойти к престолу Его!
4I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
4Я изложил бы пред Ним дело мое и уста мои наполнил бы оправданиями;
5I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say unto me.
5узнал бы слова, какими Он ответит мне, и понял бы, что Он скажет мне.
6Would He contend with me in His great power? Nay; but He would give heed unto me.
6Неужели Он в полном могуществе стал бы состязаться со мною? О, нет! Пусть Он только обратил бы внимание на меня.
7There the upright might reason with Him; so should I be delivered for ever from my Judge.
7Тогда праведник мог бы состязаться с Ним,- и я навсегда получил бы свободу от Судии моего.
8Behold, I go forward, but He is not there, and backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
8Но вот, я иду вперед - и нет Его, назад - и не нахожу Его;
9On the left hand, when He doth work, but I cannot behold Him, He turneth Himself to the right hand, but I cannot see Him.
9делает ли Он что на левой стороне, я не вижу; скрывается ли на правой, не усматриваю.
10For He knoweth the way that I take; when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
10Но Он знает путь мой; пусть испытает меня,- выйду, как золото.
11My foot hath held fast to His steps, His way have I kept, and turned not aside.
11Нога моя твердо держится стези Его; пути Его я хранил и не уклонялся.
12I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured up the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
12От заповеди уст Его не отступал; глаголы уст Его хранил больше, нежели мои правила.
13But He is at one with Himself, and who can turn Him? And what His soul desireth, even that He doeth.
13Но Он тверд; и кто отклонит Его? Он делает, чего хочет душа Его.
14For He will perform that which is appointed for me; and many such things are with Him.
14Так, Он выполнит положенное мне, и подобного этому много у Него.
15Therefore am I affrighted at His presence; when I consider, I am afraid of Him.
15Поэтому я трепещу пред лицом Его; размышляю - и страшусь Его.
16Yea, God hath made my heart faint, and the Almighty hath affrighted me;
16Бог расслабил сердце мое, и Вседержитель устрашил меня.
17Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did He cover the thick darkness from my face.
17Зачем я не уничтожен прежде этой тьмы, и Он не сокрыл мрака от лица моего!
