1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
1Когда Елиуй перестал говорить, Господь отвечал Иову из бури и сказал:
2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
2кто сей, омрачающий Провидение словами без смысла?
3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me.
3Препояшь ныне чресла твои, как муж: Я буду спрашивать тебя, и ты объясняй Мне:
4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast the understanding.
4где был ты, когда Я полагал основания земли? Скажи, если знаешь.
5Who determined the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who stretched the line upon it?
5Кто положил меру ей, если знаешь? или кто протягивал по ней вервь?
6Whereupon were the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner-stone thereof,
6На чем утверждены основания ее, или кто положил краеугольный камень ее,
7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
7при общем ликовании утренних звезд, когда все сыны Божии восклицали от радости?
8Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, and issued out of the womb;
8Кто затворил море воротами, когда оно исторглось, вышло как бы из чрева,
9When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
9когда Я облака сделал одеждою его и мглу пеленами его,
10And prescribed for it My decree, and set bars and doors,
10и утвердил ему Мое определение, и поставил запоры и ворота,
11And said: 'Thus far shalt thou come, but no further; and here shall thy proud waves be stayed'?
11и сказал: доселе дойдешь и не перейдешь, и здесь предел надменным волнам твоим?
12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days began, and caused the dayspring to know its place;
12Давал ли ты когда в жизни своей приказания утру и указывал ли заре место ее,
13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?
13чтобы она охватила края земли и стряхнула с нее нечестивых,
14It is changed as clay under the seal; and they stand as a garment.
14чтобы земля изменилась, как глина под печатью, и стала, как разноцветная одежда,
15But from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm is broken.
15и чтобы отнялся у нечестивых свет их и дерзкая рука их сокрушилась?
16Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or hast thou walked in the recesses of the deep?
16Нисходил ли ты во глубину моря и входил ли в исследование бездны?
17Have the gates of death been revealed unto thee? Or hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
17Отворялись ли для тебя врата смерти, и видел ли ты врата тени смертной?
18Hast thou surveyed unto the breadths of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all.
18Обозрел ли ты широту земли? Объясни, если знаешь все это.
19Where is the way to the dwelling of light, and as for darkness, where is the place thereof;
19Где путь к жилищу света, и где место тьмы?
20That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
20Ты, конечно, доходил до границ ее и знаешь стези к дому ее.
21Thou knowest it, for thou wast then born, and the number of thy days is great!
21Ты знаешь это, потому что ты был уже тогда рожден, и число дней твоих очень велико.
22Hast thou entered the treasuries of the snow, or hast thou seen the treasuries of the hail,
22Входил ли ты в хранилища снега и видел ли сокровищницы града,
23Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
23которые берегу Я на время смутное, на день битвы и войны?
24By what way is the light parted, or the east wind scattered upon the earth?
24По какому пути разливается свет и разносится восточный ветер по земле?
25Who hath cleft a channel for the waterflood, or a way for the lightning of the thunder;
25Кто проводит протоки для излияния воды и путь для громоносной молнии,
26To cause it to rain on a land where no man is, on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
26чтобы шел дождь на землю безлюдную, на пустыню, где нет человека,
27To satisfy the desolate and waste ground, and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
27чтобы насыщать пустыню и степь и возбуждать травные зародыши к возрастанию?
28Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
28Есть ли у дождя отец? или кто рождает капли росы?
29Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoar-frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
29Из чьего чрева выходит лед, и иней небесный,- кто рождает его?
30The waters are congealed like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
30Воды, как камень, крепнут, и поверхность бездны замерзает.
31Canst thou bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
31Можешь ли ты связать узел Хима и разрешить узы Кесиль?
32Canst thou lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season? Or canst thou guide the Bear with her sons?
32Можешь ли выводить созвездия в свое время и вести Ас с ее детьми?
33Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Canst thou establish the dominion thereof in the earth?
33Знаешь ли ты уставы неба, можешь ли установить господство его на земле?
34Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
34Можешь ли возвысить голос твой к облакам, чтобы вода в обилии покрыла тебя?
35Canst thou send forth lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee: 'Here we are'?
35Можешь ли посылать молнии, и пойдут ли они и скажут ли тебе: вот мы?
36Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who hath given understanding to the mind?
36Кто вложил мудрость в сердце, или кто дал смысл разуму?
37Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,
37Кто может расчислить облака своею мудростью и удержать сосуды неба,
38When the dust runneth into a mass, and the clods cleave fast together?
38когда пыль обращается в грязь и глыбы слипаются?
39Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lioness? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
39Ты ли ловишь добычу львице и насыщаешь молодых львов,
40When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?
40когда они лежат в берлогах или покоятся под тенью в засаде?
41Who provideth for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry unto God, and wander for lack of food?
41Кто приготовляет ворону корм его, когда птенцы его кричат к Богу, бродя без пищи?
