1Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
1Voor muziekbegeleiding; met harpen. Van David. Hoor toch, o God, mijn gejammer, En let op mijn smeken:
2From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
2Van het einde der aarde roep ik tot U In de beklemmende angst van mijn hart. Stel mij hoog op de Rots, en laat mij daar rusten,
3For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
3Want Gij zijt mijn toevlucht en sterkte tegen den vijand;
4I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
4Laat mij in uw woontent voor eeuwig uw gast zijn, En mij verbergen in de schaduw uwer vleugelen.
5For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
5Want Gij hoort mijn beloften, o mijn God, En vervult de wens van hen, die uw Naam vrezen:
6Thou wilt prolong the king’s life: and his years as many generations.
6Vermeerder de dagen des konings, En zijn jaren van geslacht tot geslacht;
7He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
7Moge hij altijd voor Gods aangezicht tronen, En liefde en trouw hem behoeden.
8So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
8Dan zal ik uw Naam in eeuwigheid prijzen, Dag aan dag U mijn dankoffer brengen!
