1พระยาห์เวห์ตอบโยบจากพายุหมุนว่า
1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2“ใครกันทำให้คำแนะนำมืดมัว ด้วยถ้อยคำที่ไม่มีความรู้?
2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3จงเตรียมตัวให้พร้อมอย่างลูกผู้ชาย เราจะถาม แล้วเจ้าจงตอบ!
3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me.
4“เจ้าอยู่ที่ไหนเมื่อเราวางรากฐานแผ่นดิน? บอกมา ถ้าเจ้ามีความเข้าใจ
4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast the understanding.
5ใครกำหนดขนาดของมัน ถ้าเจ้ารู้? ใครขึงสายวัดไว้บนมัน?
5Who determined the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who stretched the line upon it?
6ฐานของมันยึดอยู่กับอะไร? ใครวางหินมุม
6Whereupon were the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner-stone thereof,
7เมื่อดาวยามเช้าร้องเพลงพร้อมกัน บุตรของพระเจ้าทั้งหมดโห่ร้องด้วยความยินดี?
7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8“ใครปิดประตูกั้นทะเลไว้ เมื่อมันทะลักออกจากครรภ์
8Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, and issued out of the womb;
9เมื่อเราให้เมฆเป็นเสื้อผ้าของมัน ห่อมันด้วยความมืดทึบ
9When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
10กำหนดเขตของเราให้มัน ตั้งดาลและประตู
10And prescribed for it My decree, and set bars and doors,
11แล้วพูดว่า ‘เจ้ามาได้ถึงที่นี่ แต่อย่าเลยไป คลื่นหยิ่งทะนงของเจ้าต้องหยุดที่นี่’?
11And said: 'Thus far shalt thou come, but no further; and here shall thy proud waves be stayed'?
12“ตลอดชีวิต เจ้าเคยสั่งยามเช้าหรือ เคยให้รุ่งอรุณรู้ที่ของตน
12Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days began, and caused the dayspring to know its place;
13เพื่อมันจะจับปลายแผ่นดิน เขย่าคนชั่วให้หลุดออกไป?
13That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?
14แผ่นดินเปลี่ยนรูปเหมือนดินเหนียวใต้ตราประทับ ปรากฏเหมือนเสื้อผ้า
14It is changed as clay under the seal; and they stand as a garment.
15แสงถูกกันไว้ไม่ให้คนชั่ว แขนที่ยกสูงถูกหัก
15But from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm is broken.
16“เจ้าเคยเข้าสู่แหล่งน้ำพุของทะเลหรือ? เคยเดินในซอกลึกของห้วงน้ำหรือ?
16Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or hast thou walked in the recesses of the deep?
17ประตูความตายเคยถูกเผยให้เจ้าเห็นหรือ? เจ้าเคยเห็นประตูเงาแห่งความตายหรือ?
17Have the gates of death been revealed unto thee? Or hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
18เจ้าเข้าใจความกว้างของแผ่นดินหรือ? บอกมา ถ้าเจ้ารู้ทั้งหมด
18Hast thou surveyed unto the breadths of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all.
19“ทางไปที่อยู่ของแสงอยู่ไหน? ส่วนความมืด อยู่ที่ไหน
19Where is the way to the dwelling of light, and as for darkness, where is the place thereof;
20เพื่อเจ้าจะพามันไปถึงเขตของมัน รู้เส้นทางสู่บ้านของมัน?
20That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
21เจ้าย่อมรู้แน่ เพราะเจ้าเกิดตั้งแต่ตอนนั้น และมีวันเวลามากมายแล้ว!
21Thou knowest it, for thou wast then born, and the number of thy days is great!
22เจ้าเคยเข้าไปในคลังหิมะหรือ เคยเห็นคลังลูกเห็บหรือ
22Hast thou entered the treasuries of the snow, or hast thou seen the treasuries of the hail,
23ซึ่งเราเก็บไว้สำหรับยามทุกข์ สำหรับวันรบและสงคราม?
23Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
24สายฟ้ากระจายออกทางไหน ลมตะวันออกแผ่ไปบนแผ่นดินทางไหน?
24By what way is the light parted, or the east wind scattered upon the earth?
25“ใครขุดร่องให้น้ำท่วม หรือทำทางให้พายุฟ้าคะนอง
25Who hath cleft a channel for the waterflood, or a way for the lightning of the thunder;
26เพื่อให้ฝนตกบนแผ่นดินที่ไม่มีคน บนถิ่นทุรกันดารที่ไม่มีมนุษย์
26To cause it to rain on a land where no man is, on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
27ให้พื้นดินร้างและแห้งแล้งอิ่มน้ำ ให้หญ้าอ่อนงอกขึ้น?
27To satisfy the desolate and waste ground, and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
28ฝนมีพ่อหรือ? ใครเป็นพ่อของหยดน้ำค้าง?
28Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
29น้ำแข็งออกมาจากครรภ์ใคร? ใครให้กำเนิดน้ำค้างแข็งสีเทาจากฟ้า?
29Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoar-frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
30น้ำกลายเป็นของแข็งเหมือนหิน เมื่อผิวห้วงลึกจับตัวแข็ง
30The waters are congealed like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31“เจ้าผูกกระจุกดาวลูกไก่ได้หรือ คลายสายกลุ่มดาวนายพรานได้หรือ?
31Canst thou bind the chains of the Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
32เจ้านำกลุ่มดาวออกมาตามฤดูได้หรือ? นำกลุ่มดาวหมีกับลูกๆ ของมันได้หรือ?
32Canst thou lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season? Or canst thou guide the Bear with her sons?
33เจ้ารู้กฎของฟ้าสวรรค์หรือ? ตั้งอำนาจปกครองของมันเหนือแผ่นดินได้หรือ?
33Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Canst thou establish the dominion thereof in the earth?
34“เจ้าส่งเสียงขึ้นไปถึงเมฆได้หรือ ให้น้ำมากมายปกคลุมเจ้า?
34Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
35เจ้าส่งสายฟ้าออกไปได้หรือ? มันรายงานเจ้าหรือว่า ‘พวกเราอยู่ที่นี่’?
35Canst thou send forth lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee: 'Here we are'?
36ใครใส่ปัญญาไว้ในส่วนลึกภายใน? ใครให้ความเข้าใจแก่ใจ?
36Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who hath given understanding to the mind?
37ใครมีปัญญานับเมฆได้? ใครเทภาชนะของฟ้าได้
37Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,
38เมื่อฝุ่นรวมเป็นก้อน ก้อนดินเกาะกัน?
38When the dust runneth into a mass, and the clods cleave fast together?
39“เจ้าล่าเหยื่อให้สิงโตตัวเมียได้หรือ ทำให้สิงโตหนุ่มอิ่มได้หรือ
39Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lioness? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
40เมื่อมันหมอบอยู่ในถ้ำ ซุ่มรอในพุ่มไม้?
40When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?
41ใครหาเหยื่อให้อีกา เมื่อลูกของมันร้องต่อพระเจ้า เร่ร่อนไปเพราะไม่มีอาหาร?
41Who provideth for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry unto God, and wander for lack of food?
