1ลูกทั้งหลาย ฟังคำสั่งสอนของพ่อ ตั้งใจฟังแล้วจะได้ความเข้าใจ
1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend that you may know prudence.
2พ่อให้คำสอนที่ดี อย่าทิ้งคำสอนของพ่อ
2I will give you a good gift, forsake not my law.
3เมื่อพ่อยังเป็นลูกชายอยู่กับปู่ของลูก ยังอ่อนวัย เป็นลูกคนเดียวที่ย่าของลูกทะนุถนอม
3For I also was my father’s son, tender and as an only son in the sight of my mother:
4ท่านสอนพ่อและพูดว่า “เก็บถ้อยคำของพ่อไว้ในใจ รักษาคำบัญชาของพ่อ แล้วลูกจะมีชีวิต
4And he taught me, and said: Let thy heart receive my words, keep my commandments, and thou shalt live.
5จงแสวงหาปัญญา แสวงหาความเข้าใจ อย่าลืม และอย่าหันเหจากคำสอนของพ่อ
5Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6อย่าทิ้งปัญญา แล้วปัญญาจะรักษาลูก รักปัญญา แล้วปัญญาจะคุ้มครองลูก
6Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall preserve thee.
7ปัญญาเป็นสิ่งสำคัญที่สุด จงหาปัญญา ต่อให้ต้องแลกทุกสิ่งที่มี ก็จงหาความเข้าใจ
7The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and with all thy possession purchase prudence.
8ยกย่องปัญญา แล้วปัญญาจะยกลูกให้สูงขึ้น โอบกอดปัญญาไว้ แล้วปัญญาจะนำเกียรติมาให้
8Take hold on her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be glorified by her, when thou shalt embrace her.
9ปัญญาจะวางมาลัยงามสง่าบนศีรษะ และมอบมงกุฎอันสง่างามให้ลูก”
9She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble crown.
10ลูกเอ๋ย ฟังและรับถ้อยคำของพ่อ แล้วลูกจะมีชีวิตยืนยาวหลายปี
10Hear, O my son, and receive my words, that years of life may be multiplied to thee.
11พ่อสอนให้เดินในทางปัญญา และนำไปตามทางที่ตรง
11I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will lead thee by the paths of equity:
12เมื่อเดิน ก้าวเท้าจะไม่ติดขัด เมื่อวิ่ง จะไม่สะดุด
12Which when thou shalt have entered, thy steps shall not be straitened, and when thou runnest thou shalt not meet a stumblingblock.
13ยึดคำสั่งสอนไว้ให้มั่น อย่าปล่อยไป รักษาไว้ เพราะนั่นคือชีวิตของลูก
13Take hold on instruction, leave it not: keep it, because it is thy life.
14อย่าเข้าไปในทางของคนชั่ว อย่าเดินในวิถีของคนทำชั่ว
14Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee.
15หลีกมันเสีย อย่าเฉียดเข้าไป หันหนีแล้วผ่านไป
15Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it.
16พวกเขานอนไม่หลับถ้ายังไม่ได้ทำชั่ว จะข่มตาไม่ลงถ้ายังไม่ได้ทำให้ใครล้ม
16For they sleep not except they have done evil: and their sleep is taken away unless they have made some to fall.
17ความชั่วคือขนมปังที่พวกเขากิน ความรุนแรงคือเหล้าองุ่นที่พวกเขาดื่ม
17They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of iniquity.
18แต่ทางของคนเที่ยงธรรมเหมือนแสงอรุณ ที่สว่างขึ้นเรื่อยๆ จนวันสว่างเต็มที่
18But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day.
19ทางของคนชั่วเหมือนความมืด พวกเขาไม่รู้ด้วยซ้ำว่าสะดุดอะไร
19The way of the wicked is darksome: they know not where they fall.
20ลูกเอ๋ย ตั้งใจฟังถ้อยคำของพ่อ เงี่ยหูฟังคำที่พ่อพูด
20My son, hearken to my words, and incline thy ear to my sayings.
21อย่าให้คลาดสายตา เก็บไว้กลางใจ
21Let them not depart from thy eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart:
22ถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ให้ชีวิตแก่ผู้ที่พบ และให้ความแข็งแรงแก่ทั้งร่างกาย
22For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh.
23จงเฝ้ารักษาใจไว้อย่างดีที่สุด ต้นธารแห่งชีวิตไหลออกมาจากใจ
23With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it.
24อย่าให้ปากพูดจาบิดเบือน อย่าให้ริมฝีปากเอ่ยคำคดโกง
24Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee.
25ให้ตาจ้องตรงไปข้างหน้า ให้สายตามุ่งตรงไปเบื้องหน้า
25Let thy eyes look straight on, and let thy eyelids go before thy steps.
26ทำทางที่เท้าเดินให้ราบ แล้วทุกทางที่เดินจะมั่นคง
26Make straight the path for thy feet, and all thy ways shall be established.
27อย่าเลี้ยวขวาหรือซ้าย ถอนเท้าให้ห่างจากความชั่ว
27Decline not to the right hand, nor to the left: turn away thy foot from evil. For the Lord knoweth the ways that are on the right hand: but those are perverse which are on the left hand. But he will make thy courses straight, he will bring forward thy ways in peace.
