1พระยาห์เวห์มีถ้อยคำถึงโยเอล บุตรของเปธูเอล
1The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Phatuel.
2ผู้อาวุโสทั้งหลาย จงฟังเรื่องนี้ ทุกคนที่อาศัยในแผ่นดิน จงตั้งใจฟัง! เคยมีเรื่องเช่นนี้เกิดขึ้นในสมัยของพวกคุณ หรือในสมัยบรรพบุรุษของพวกคุณหรือไม่?
2Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land: did this ever happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
3จงเล่าให้ลูกหลานฟัง ให้ลูกหลานเล่าต่อไปยังลูกหลานของตน แล้วให้คนเหล่านั้นเล่าต่อไปยังคนอีกรุ่นหนึ่ง
3Tell ye of this to your children, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation.
4สิ่งที่ฝูงตั๊กแตนเหลือไว้ ตั๊กแตนตัวใหญ่กินเสีย สิ่งที่ตั๊กแตนตัวใหญ่เหลือไว้ ตั๊กแตนกินเสีย สิ่งที่ตั๊กแตนเหลือไว้ หนอนผีเสื้อกินเสีย
4That which the palmerworm hath left, the locust hath eaten: and that which the locust hath left, the bruchus hath eaten: and that which the bruchus hath left, the mildew hath destroyed.
5คนขี้เมาทั้งหลาย จงตื่นขึ้นและร้องไห้! ทุกคนที่ดื่มเหล้าองุ่น จงคร่ำครวญถึงเหล้าองุ่นหวาน เพราะไม่มีเหล้าองุ่นให้พวกคุณดื่มแล้ว
5Awake, ye that are drunk, and weep, and mourn all ye that take delight in drinking sweet wine: for it is cut off from your mouth.
6ชาติหนึ่งบุกขึ้นมาในแผ่นดินของเรา แข็งแกร่งและมีจำนวนเหลือคณานับ ฟันของชาตินั้นเหมือนฟันสิงโต มีเขี้ยวเหมือนสิงโตตัวเมีย
6For a nation is come up upon my land, strong and without number: his teeth are like the teeth of a lion: and his cheek teeth as of a lion’s whelp.
7ทำลายเถาองุ่นของเรา ลอกต้นมะเดื่อของเรา ลอกเปลือกจนหมดแล้วทิ้งไป กิ่งก้านกลายเป็นสีขาว
7He hath laid my vineyard waste, and hath pilled off the bark of my fig tree: he hath stripped it bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
8จงไว้ทุกข์เหมือนหญิงพรหมจารีที่สวมผ้ากระสอบ อาลัยสามีเมื่อแรกรุ่น!
8Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9ไม่มีเครื่องบูชาจากธัญพืชหรือเครื่องดื่มที่ถวายบูชาในพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์อีก เหล่าปุโรหิต ผู้รับใช้พระยาห์เวห์ ต่างไว้ทุกข์
9Sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of the Lord: the priests, the Lord’s ministers, have mourned:
10ไร่นาถูกทำลาย แผ่นดินไว้ทุกข์ เพราะธัญพืชพินาศ เหล้าองุ่นใหม่เหือดแห้ง น้ำมันก็ขาดแคลน
10The country is destroyed, the ground hath mourned: for the corn is wasted, the wine is confounded, the oil hath languished.
11ชาวนาทั้งหลาย จงอับอาย! ผู้ดูแลสวนองุ่น จงคร่ำครวญ ถึงข้าวสาลีและข้าวบาร์เลย์ เพราะผลเก็บเกี่ยวในไร่นาพินาศแล้ว
11The husbandmen are ashamed, the vinedressers have howled for the wheat, and for the barley, because the harvest of the field is perished.
12เถาองุ่นแห้ง ต้นมะเดื่อเหี่ยวเฉา ทั้งต้นทับทิม ต้นปาล์ม และต้นแอปเปิล ต้นไม้ทุกต้นในทุ่งล้วนเหี่ยวเฉา ความยินดีของมนุษย์ก็เหี่ยวแห้งไปด้วย
12The vineyard is confounded, and the fig tree hath languished: the pomegranate tree, and the palm tree, and the apple tree, and all the trees of the field are withered: because joy is withdrawn from the children of men.
13ปุโรหิตทั้งหลาย จงสวมผ้ากระสอบและไว้ทุกข์! ผู้รับใช้ที่แท่นบูชา จงคร่ำครวญ ผู้รับใช้พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้า จงมานอนสวมผ้ากระสอบตลอดคืน เพราะไม่มีเครื่องบูชาจากธัญพืชหรือเครื่องดื่มที่ถวายบูชาในพระวิหารของพระเจ้าของพวกคุณ
13Gird yourselves, and lament, O ye priests, howl, ye ministers of the altars: go in, lie in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: because sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of your God.
14จงกำหนดการอดอาหารอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เรียกชุมนุมอย่างเคร่งขรึม รวบรวมผู้อาวุโสและทุกคนในแผ่นดินมาที่พระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของพวกคุณ แล้วร้องทูลพระยาห์เวห์
14Sanctify ye a fast, call an assembly; gather together the ancients, all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God: and cry ye to the Lord:
15อนิจจา วันนั้น! วันของพระยาห์เวห์ใกล้เข้ามาแล้ว จะมาเป็นการทำลายล้างจากผู้ทรงฤทธิ์สูงสุด
15Ah, ah, ah, for the day: because the day of the Lord is at hand, and it shall come like destruction from the mighty.
16อาหารหายไปต่อหน้าต่อตาพวกเราแล้วไม่ใช่หรือ ความชื่นบานและความยินดีก็หายไปจากพระวิหารของพระเจ้าของพวกเรา?
16Is not your food cut off before your eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17เมล็ดเน่าอยู่ใต้ก้อนดิน ยุ้งฉางร้างเปล่า โรงเก็บพังทลาย เพราะธัญพืชเหี่ยวแห้ง
17The beasts have rotted in their dung, the barns are destroyed, the storehouses are broken down: because the corn is confounded.
18สัตว์ทั้งหลายร้องครวญครางเพียงใด! ฝูงปศุสัตว์ว้าวุ่น เพราะไม่มีทุ่งหญ้า แม้แต่ฝูงแกะก็อยู่ในสภาพย่อยยับ
18Why did the beast groan, why did the herds of cattle low? because there is no pasture for them: yea, and the flocks of sheep are perished.
19พระยาห์เวห์ ข้าพเจ้าร้องทูลพระองค์ เพราะไฟเผาผลาญทุ่งหญ้าในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เปลวไฟเผาต้นไม้ทุกต้นในทุ่ง
19To thee, O Lord, will I cry: because fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness, and the flame hath burnt all the trees of the country.
20แม้แต่สัตว์ในทุ่งก็หอบหาพระองค์ เพราะลำธารแห้งขอด ไฟเผาผลาญทุ่งหญ้าในถิ่นทุรกันดาร
20Yea and the beasts of the field have looked up to thee, as a garden bed that thirsteth after rain, for the springs of waters are dried up, and fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness.
