1Naamathi Zophar loh a doo tih,
1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
2“Ol cungkuem te a doo moenih a? Hlang he a hmuilai ngawn tah tang dae ta.
2Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be accounted right?
3Na olsai te hlang loh ngam vetih na tamdaeng vaengah a hmaithae mahpawt nim?
3Thy boastings have made men hold their peace, and thou hast mocked, with none to make thee ashamed;
4Te vaengah, “Ka rhingtuknah he cil tih na mikhmuh ah a caih la ka om,” na ti.
4And thou hast said: 'My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Thine eyes.'
5Nang taengah aka thui la Pathen loh unim dawk a paek tih a hmuilai ong koinih.
5But oh that God would speak, and open His lips against thee;
6Lungming cueihnah he rhaepnit a lo dongah cueihnah olhuep te nang taengah a thui pawn ko. Namah kathaesainah lamloh Pathen loh nang n'hnilh te ming.
6And that He would tell thee the secrets of wisdom, that sound wisdom is manifold! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
7Pathen kah khenah na hmuh tih Tlungthang kah a khuetnah hil na hmuh a?
7Canst thou find out the deep things of God? Canst thou attain unto the purpose of the Almighty?
8Vaan la a sang te metlam na saii eh? Saelkhui lakah a dung te metlam na ming eh?
8It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than the nether-world; what canst thou know?
9A himbaidok loh diklai lakah a puet tih tuitunli lakah dangka ngai.
9The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10A hil tih a tlaeng tih a tingtun sak phoeiah tah ulong anih a mael sak.
10If He pass by, and shut up, or gather in, then who can hinder Him?
11Amah loh a poeyoek hlang rhoek khaw a ming ngawn dae boethae a hmuh vaengah yakming pawh.
11For He knoweth base men; and when He seeth iniquity, will He not then consider it?
12Tedae tuihong hlang loh hloih koinih kohong marhang neh laak te hlang la a sak khaming.
12But an empty man will get understanding, when a wild ass's colt is born a man.
13Na lungbuei na cikngae tih a taengla na kut na phuel koinih,
13If thou set thy heart aright, and stretch out thy hands toward Him —
14Na kut dongkah boethae te na lakhla tak tih na dap ah dumlai na khueh pawt atah,
14If iniquity be in thy hand, put it far away, and let not unrighteousness dwell in thy tents —
15A lolhmaih kolla na maelhmai na ludoeng van bitni. Na om vaengah khaw tluektluek na long vetih na rhih om mahpawh.
15Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear;
16Nang ham tah thakthaenah te na hnilh vetih tui aka long voelh bangla na poek bitni.
16For thou shalt forget thy misery; thou shalt remember it as waters that are passed away;
17Na khosak khaw khothun lakah sae vetih, a hmuep khaw mincang bangla om ni.
17And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.
18Ngaiuepnah a om dongah na pangtung vetih ngaikhuek la na too phoeiah na yalh bitni.
18And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt look about thee, and shalt take thy rest in safety.
19Na kol vaengah na lakueng neh na maelhmai muep thae voel mahpawh.
19Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
20Tedae halang kah mik tah kha vetih thuhaelnah khaw amih lamloh bing ni, a ngaiuepnah khaw hinglu polpainah la om ni,” a ti nah.
20But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no way to flee, and their hope shall be the drooping of the soul.
