1Shuhi Bildad loh a doo tih,
1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2“He he me hil nim na thui ve? Na ka kah ol tah khohli bangla khuet coeng.
2How long wilt thou speak these things, seeing that the words of thy mouth are as a mighty wind?
3Pathen loh tiktamnah he a khun sak tih Tlungthang loh duengnah te a khun sak mai a?
3Doth God pervert judgment? Or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4Na ca rhoek te anih taengah a tholh vaengah amih te amamih kah boekoek kut dongla a tueih.
4If thy children sinned against Him, He delivered them into the hand of their transgression.
5If thou wouldest seek earnestly unto God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6If thou wert pure and upright; surely now He would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7And though thy beginning was small, yet thy end should greatly increase.
8Lamhma kah cadil taengah dawt laeh lamtah a napa rhoek khenah te soepsoei laeh.
8For inquire, I pray thee, of the former generation, and apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out —
9Mamih loh n'hlaem paek kah long khaw m'ming uh moenih, mamih kah khohnin diklai dongkah mueihlip banghui ni.
9For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow —
10Amih te na thuinuet pawt tih a, nang taengah a thui vetih amih kah lungbuei lamloh olthui te a khueh eh?
10Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11Nongtui pawt ah talik thawn tih tui om mueh ah capu rhoeng a?
11Can the rush shoot up without mire? Can the reed-grass grow without water?
12Te te a duei pueng ah a hlaek pawt akhaw sulrham boeih hmai ah rhae coeng.
12Whilst it is yet in its greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13Pathen aka hnilh boeih kah caehlong neh lailak kah ngaiuepnah tah bing tangloeng.
13So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hope of the godless man shall perish;
14A uepnah neh a pangtungnah bumba im te khaw bawtboeng.
14Whose confidence is gossamer, and whose trust is a spider's web.
15A im dongah hangdang dae pai thai pawh. Te te a kuel dae thoo pawh.
15He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast thereby, but it shall not endure.
16Anih te khosae li ah thingsup tih a dum ah a dawn sai.
16He is green before the sun, and his shoots go forth over his garden.
17A yung loh lungkuk dongah a ven tih lungto im te a hmuh.
17His roots are wrapped about the heap, he beholdeth the place of stones.
18Te te a hmuen lamloh a phuk van vaengah, “Nang kam hmu moenih,” anih te a namnah.
18If he be destroyed from his place, then it shall deny him: 'I have not seen thee.'
19He he a longpuei kah omthennah coeng koinih laipi tloe lamloh a poe uh khaming.
19Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others spring.
20Pathen loh cuemthuek hnawt ngawn pawt tih thaehuet kut te a moem moenih.
20Behold, God will not cast away an innocent man, neither will He uphold the evil-doers;
21Till He fill thy mouth with laughter, and thy lips with shouting.
22Na lunguet rhoek loh yahpohnah a bai uh vetih halang kah dap tah om mahpawh,” a ti.
22They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
