1Thus said the LORD: Go, and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
1พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า “จงไปซื้อภาชนะดินจากช่างปั้นหม้อ พาผู้อาวุโสของประชาชนและผู้อาวุโสของปุโรหิตบางคนไปด้วย
2and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee;
2ออกไปยังหุบเขาบุตรฮินโนมใกล้ทางเข้าประตูฮาร์สิท แล้วประกาศถ้อยคำที่เราจะบอกเจ้า
3and say: Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle;
3จงกล่าวว่า ‘กษัตริย์ยูดาห์และผู้ที่อาศัยในเยรูซาเล็ม จงฟังคำของพระยาห์เวห์ พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวดังนี้ “จงฟัง เราจะนำภัยร้ายมาถึงที่นี้ ใครได้ยิน หูของเขาจะสะท้าน
4because they have forsaken Me, and have estranged this place, and have offered in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
4เพราะพวกเขาละทิ้งเรา ทำที่นี้ให้แปดเปื้อน เผาเครื่องหอมบูชาเทพเจ้าอื่นซึ่งทั้งพวกเขา บรรพบุรุษและกษัตริย์ยูดาห์ไม่เคยรู้จัก และทำที่นี้ให้เต็มด้วยเลือดผู้บริสุทธิ์
5and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt-offerings unto Baal; which I commanded not, nor spoke it, neither came it into My mind.
5พวกเขาสร้างสถานบูชาบนที่สูงของเทพบาอัล เผาลูกของตนในไฟเป็นเครื่องบูชาเผาถวายเทพบาอัล เราไม่ได้สั่ง ไม่ได้พูด และเรื่องนี้ไม่เคยเข้ามาในความคิดของเราเลย
6Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter;
6เพราะฉะนั้น จงฟัง วันเวลาจะมาถึง” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เมื่อที่นี้จะไม่เรียกว่า ‘โทเฟท’ หรือ ‘หุบเขาบุตรฮินโนม’ อีก แต่จะเรียกว่า ‘หุบเขาแห่งการฆ่าฟัน’
7and I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of them that seek their life; and their carcasses will I give to be food for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth;
7“‘“เราจะทำให้แผนของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มล้มเหลวในที่นี้ จะให้พวกเขาล้มตายด้วยดาบต่อหน้าศัตรู ด้วยมือคนที่หมายเอาชีวิต จะให้ศพเป็นอาหารของนกในท้องฟ้าและสัตว์บนแผ่นดิน
8and I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof;
8เราจะทำให้เมืองนี้เป็นที่น่าตกตะลึงและถูกเย้ยหยัน ทุกคนที่เดินผ่านจะตกตะลึงและเย้ยหยันเพราะภัยพิบัติทั้งหมดของเมือง
9and I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their life, shall straiten them.
9เราจะทำให้พวกเขากินเนื้อลูกชายลูกสาว แต่ละคนจะกินเนื้อเพื่อนของตน ระหว่างการล้อมและความทุกข์ที่ศัตรูและคนที่หมายเอาชีวิตพวกเขาก่อขึ้นแก่พวกเขา”’
10Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
10“แล้วเจ้าจงทุบภาชนะต่อหน้าคนที่ไปด้วย
11and shalt say unto them: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, for want of room to bury.
11บอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพกล่าวดังนี้ “เราจะทุบชนชาตินี้และเมืองนี้อย่างนั้น เหมือนทุบภาชนะของช่างปั้นหม้อที่ซ่อมให้กลับมาสมบูรณ์ไม่ได้อีก พวกเขาจะฝังศพในโทเฟทจนไม่มีที่ให้ฝัง
12Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, even making this city as Topheth;
12เราจะทำกับสถานที่นี้” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “และกับผู้ที่อาศัยอยู่อย่างนี้ จะทำเมืองนี้ให้เป็นเหมือนโทเฟท
13and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses upon whose roofs they have offered unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink-offerings unto other gods.
13บ้านในเยรูซาเล็มและบ้านของกษัตริย์ยูดาห์ที่แปดเปื้อนจะเป็นเหมือนสถานที่แห่งโทเฟท คือบ้านทั้งหมดที่พวกเขาเผาเครื่องหอมบูชากองทัพในท้องฟ้าทั้งสิ้น และเทเครื่องดื่มบูชาเทพเจ้าอื่นบนหลังคา”’”
14Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house, and said to all the people:
14เยเรมีย์กลับจากโทเฟทที่พระยาห์เวห์ส่งเขาไปพยากรณ์ ยืนในลานพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ แล้วบอกประชาชนทั้งหมดว่า
15'Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they might not hear My words.'
15“พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวดังนี้ ‘จงฟัง เราจะนำภัยร้ายทั้งหมดที่ประกาศไว้ต่อเมืองนี้ มาถึงเมืองและเมืองบริวารทั้งหมด เพราะพวกเขาดื้อดึง ไม่ยอมฟังถ้อยคำของเรา’”
