1NOW IT came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying:
1หลังจากโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระยาห์เวห์ สิ้นชีวิตแล้ว พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาบุตรของนูน ผู้รับใช้ของโมเสสว่า
2'Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
2“โมเสสผู้รับใช้ของเราได้ตายแล้ว บัดนี้เจ้าจงลุกขึ้น ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนสายนี้ไปพร้อมกับประชาชนทั้งหมดนี้ เข้าสู่แผ่นดินที่เรากำลังจะมอบให้พวกเขา คือชาวอิสราเอล
3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spoke unto Moses.
3ทุกแห่งที่ฝ่าเท้าของพวกเจ้าจะเหยียบลงนั้น เราได้มอบให้พวกเจ้าแล้วตามที่เราบอกโมเสสไว้
4From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
4เขตแดนของพวกเจ้าจะเริ่มจากถิ่นทุรกันดารและบริเวณเลบานอนนี้ ไปจนถึงแม่น้ำใหญ่คือแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส รวมทั้งแผ่นดินทั้งหมดของชาวฮิตไทต์ และไปจนถึงทะเลใหญ่ทางทิศตะวันตก
5There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
5ตลอดชีวิตของเจ้า จะไม่มีใครต้านทานเจ้าได้ เราอยู่กับโมเสสอย่างไร เราก็จะอยู่กับเจ้าอย่างนั้น เราจะไม่ละเลยเจ้าและจะไม่ทอดทิ้งเจ้า
6Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I swore unto their fathers to give them.
6“จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญ เพราะเจ้าจะเป็นผู้นำประชาชนนี้ให้ได้รับแผ่นดินที่เราสาบานว่าจะมอบให้บรรพบุรุษของพวกเขาเป็นมรดก
7Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest.
7เพียงแต่จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญยิ่งนัก จงเอาใจใส่และทำตามธรรมบัญญัติทั้งหมดที่โมเสสผู้รับใช้ของเราสั่งเจ้าไว้ อย่าหันเหจากธรรมบัญญัตินั้นไปทางขวาหรือทางซ้าย เพื่อเจ้าจะประสบความสำเร็จไม่ว่าจะไปที่ไหน
8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy ways prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
8เจ้าต้องกล่าวถ้อยคำจากหนังสือธรรมบัญญัตินี้อยู่เสมอ และใคร่ครวญถ้อยคำเหล่านั้นทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน เพื่อเจ้าจะเอาใจใส่และทำตามทุกสิ่งที่เขียนไว้ในนั้น แล้วทางที่เจ้าไปจะรุ่งเรืองและเจ้าจะประสบความสำเร็จ
9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.'
9เราสั่งเจ้าแล้วไม่ใช่หรือ จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญ อย่ากลัวและอย่าท้อใจ เพราะพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า จะอยู่กับเจ้าไม่ว่าเจ้าจะไปที่ไหน”
10Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:
10แล้วโยชูวาสั่งเจ้าหน้าที่ของประชาชนว่า
11'Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.'
11“จงเดินผ่านกลางค่ายและสั่งประชาชนว่า ‘จงเตรียมเสบียงไว้ เพราะภายในสามวัน พวกท่านจะข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนสายนี้ เพื่อเข้าไปยึดครองแผ่นดินที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านประทานให้พวกท่านเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์’”
12And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, spoke Joshua, saying:
12โยชูวาพูดกับชาวรูเบน ชาวกาด และคนครึ่งเผ่ามนัสเสห์ว่า
13'Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, you, saying: The LORD your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land.
13“จงระลึกถึงคำที่โมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระยาห์เวห์สั่งพวกท่านไว้ว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านกำลังให้พวกท่านได้พักสงบ และจะประทานแผ่นดินนี้แก่พวกท่าน
14Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
14ภรรยา ลูกเล็ก ๆ และฝูงสัตว์ของพวกท่านจะอาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินซึ่งโมเสสมอบให้พวกท่านทางฟากตะวันออกของแม่น้ำจอร์แดน แต่พวกท่านทุกคนที่เป็นนักรบผู้กล้าหาญต้องถืออาวุธข้ามไปนำหน้าพี่น้องของพวกท่านเพื่อช่วยพวกเขา
15until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as unto you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them; then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising.'
15จนกว่าพระยาห์เวห์จะให้พี่น้องของพวกท่านได้พักสงบเหมือนที่ทรงให้พวกท่าน และจนกว่าพวกเขาจะยึดครองแผ่นดินที่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านประทานให้ จากนั้นพวกท่านจึงกลับมายังดินแดนกรรมสิทธิ์ของพวกท่านและยึดครองดินแดนนั้น ซึ่งโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระยาห์เวห์มอบให้พวกท่านทางฟากตะวันออกของแม่น้ำจอร์แดน’”
16And they answered Joshua, saying: 'All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go.
16พวกเขาตอบโยชูวาว่า “ทุกสิ่งที่ท่านสั่ง พวกเราจะทำ และไม่ว่าท่านจะส่งพวกเราไปที่ไหน พวกเราจะไป
17According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only the LORD thy God be with thee, as He was with Moses.
17พวกเราเชื่อฟังโมเสสทุกเรื่องอย่างไร ก็จะเชื่อฟังท่านอย่างนั้น ขอเพียงให้พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของท่านอยู่กับท่าน เหมือนที่ทรงอยู่กับโมเสส
18Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death; only be strong and of good courage.'
18ใครก็ตามที่ขัดขืนคำสั่งของท่านและไม่เชื่อฟังถ้อยคำทุกอย่างที่ท่านสั่ง จะต้องถูกประหารชีวิต เพียงแต่ท่านจงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญ”
