1And these are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed unto them,

2by the lot of their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe. —

3For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
3เพราะโมเสสได้มอบมรดกแก่สองเผ่ากับอีกครึ่งเผ่าทางฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนแล้ว แต่ไม่ได้มอบมรดกแก่ชาวเลวีท่ามกลางพวกเขา
4For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with the open land about them for their cattle and for their substance. —
4ลูกหลานของโยเซฟแบ่งเป็นสองเผ่า คือมนัสเสห์และเอฟราอิม ชาวอิสราเอลไม่ได้มอบส่วนแบ่งในแผ่นดินแก่ชาวเลวี นอกจากเมืองสำหรับอยู่อาศัยพร้อมทุ่งหญ้าเลี้ยงฝูงสัตว์และทรัพย์สินของพวกเขา
5As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
5ชาวอิสราเอลทำตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชาโมเสส และพวกเขาก็แบ่งแผ่นดินกัน
6Then the children of Judah drew nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him: 'Thou knowest the thing that the LORD spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-barnea.
6แล้วลูกหลานยูดาห์เข้ามาหาโยชูวาที่กิลกาล คาเลบบุตรเยฟุนเนห์ชาวเคนัสพูดกับเขาว่า “ท่านรู้เรื่องที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสคนของพระเจ้าเกี่ยวกับข้าพเจ้าและท่านที่คาเดชบาร์เนีย
7Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him back word as it was in my heart.
7ข้าพเจ้าอายุสี่สิบปีเมื่อโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้าจากคาเดชบาร์เนียไปสอดแนมแผ่นดิน ข้าพเจ้ากลับมารายงานตามความเชื่อมั่นในใจ
8Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
8แต่พี่น้องของข้าพเจ้าที่ขึ้นไปด้วยกันทำให้ประชาชนหมดกำลังใจ ส่วนข้าพเจ้าติดตามพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าอย่างสุดใจ
9And Moses swore on that day, saying: Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall be an inheritance to thee and to thy children for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
9ในวันนั้นโมเสสสาบานว่า ‘แผ่นดินที่เจ้าเหยียบย่างจะเป็นมรดกของเจ้าและลูกหลานของเจ้าตลอดไปอย่างแน่นอน เพราะเจ้าได้ติดตามพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าอย่างสุดใจ’
10And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as He spoke, these forty and five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
10“บัดนี้พระยาห์เวห์ทรงรักษาชีวิตข้าพเจ้าไว้ตามที่พระองค์ตรัส ตลอดสี่สิบห้าปีนับตั้งแต่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสเรื่องนี้กับโมเสส ขณะที่อิสราเอลเดินทางในถิ่นทุรกันดาร วันนี้ข้าพเจ้าอายุแปดสิบห้าปีแล้ว
11As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me; as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in.
11วันนี้ข้าพเจ้ายังแข็งแรงเหมือนวันที่โมเสสส่งข้าพเจ้าไป กำลังของข้าพเจ้าตอนนี้ยังเท่ากับตอนนั้น ทั้งสำหรับออกรบและกลับจากรบ
12Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spoke in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakim were there, and cities great and fortified; it may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the LORD spoke.'
12เพราะฉะนั้น โปรดมอบเขตภูเขานี้ที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสถึงในวันนั้นแก่ข้าพเจ้า เพราะวันนั้นท่านได้ยินว่าชาวอานาคอยู่ที่นั่นและมีเมืองใหญ่ที่มีป้อมปราการ บางทีพระยาห์เวห์จะทรงอยู่กับข้าพเจ้า และข้าพเจ้าจะขับไล่พวกเขาออกไปตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ตรัส”
13And Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.
13โยชูวาอวยพรคาเลบบุตรเยฟุนเนห์ และมอบเฮโบรนให้เขาเป็นมรดก
14Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, unto this day; because that he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.
14ดังนั้นเฮโบรนจึงเป็นมรดกของคาเลบบุตรเยฟุนเนห์ชาวเคนัสจนถึงทุกวันนี้ เพราะเขาติดตามพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอลอย่างสุดใจ
15Now the name of Hebron beforetime was Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
15เดิมเฮโบรนชื่อคีริยาทอารบา ซึ่งตั้งชื่อตามชายที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในหมู่ชาวอานาค แล้วแผ่นดินก็ได้พักสงบจากสงคราม
