1Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. —
1ชาวเมืองเยรีโคปิดประตูเมืองแน่นหนาเพื่อกันชาวอิสราเอล ไม่มีใครออกมาและไม่มีใครเข้าไป
2And the LORD said unto Joshua: 'See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, even the mighty men of valour.
2พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาว่า “เราได้มอบเมืองเยรีโค กษัตริย์ของเมือง และบรรดานักรบผู้กล้าหาญให้แก่เจ้าแล้ว
3And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
3ให้ทหารทั้งหมดของเจ้าเดินรอบเมืองหนึ่งรอบ จงทำเช่นนี้เป็นเวลาหกวัน
4And seven priests shall bear seven rams' horns before the ark; and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the horns.
4ให้ปุโรหิตเจ็ดคนถือแตรเขาแกะตัวผู้เจ็ดอันเดินนำหน้าหีบ ในวันที่เจ็ด พวกเจ้าต้องเดินรอบเมืองเจ็ดรอบ และให้ปุโรหิตเป่าแตร
5And it shall be, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the horn, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.'
5เมื่อพวกเขาเป่าแตรเขาแกะตัวผู้เป็นเสียงยาว และพวกเจ้าได้ยินเสียงแตร ให้ประชาชนทุกคนโห่ร้องเสียงดัง แล้วกำแพงเมืองจะพังราบลง และประชาชนจะบุกขึ้นไป ต่างคนต่างมุ่งตรงเข้าเมือง”
6And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them: 'Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.'
6โยชูวาบุตรของนูนเรียกบรรดาปุโรหิตมาและสั่งว่า “จงยกหีบพันธสัญญาขึ้นแบก และให้ปุโรหิตเจ็ดคนถือแตรเขาแกะตัวผู้เจ็ดอันเดินนำหน้าหีบของพระยาห์เวห์”
7And he said unto the people: 'Pass on, and compass the city, and let the armed body pass on before the ark of the LORD.'
7พวกเขาพูดกับประชาชนว่า “จงเคลื่อนไปข้างหน้าและเดินรอบเมือง ให้กองกำลังติดอาวุธเดินนำหน้าหีบของพระยาห์เวห์”
8And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken unto the people, the seven priests bearing the seven rams' horns before the LORD passed on, and blew with the horns; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
8เมื่อโยชูวาพูดกับประชาชนแล้ว ปุโรหิตเจ็ดคนผู้ถือแตรเขาแกะตัวผู้เจ็ดอันก็เดินนำต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์และเป่าแตร ส่วนหีบพันธสัญญาของพระยาห์เวห์ตามหลังพวกเขา
9And the armed men went before the priests that blew the horns, and the rearward went after the ark, the priests blowing with the horns continually.
9กองกำลังติดอาวุธเดินนำหน้าบรรดาปุโรหิตผู้เป่าแตร และหีบตามหลังปุโรหิตเหล่านั้น พวกเขาเป่าแตรไปตลอดทาง
10And Joshua commanded the people, saying: 'Ye shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.'
10โยชูวาสั่งประชาชนว่า “อย่าโห่ร้องหรือส่งเสียงใด ๆ อย่าให้มีคำใดออกจากปากของพวกท่านจนกว่าจะถึงวันที่ข้าพเจ้าสั่งให้โห่ร้อง แล้วพวกท่านจึงโห่ร้อง”
11So he caused the ark of the LORD to compass the city, going about it once; and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
11โยชูวาให้หีบของพระยาห์เวห์เคลื่อนไปรอบเมืองหนึ่งรอบ แล้วพวกเขาก็กลับเข้าค่ายและพักอยู่ในค่าย
12And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.
12โยชูวาตื่นแต่เช้า และบรรดาปุโรหิตยกหีบของพระยาห์เวห์ขึ้นแบก
13And the seven priests bearing the seven rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the horns; and the armed men went before them; and the rearward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests blowing with the horns continually.
13ปุโรหิตเจ็ดคนผู้ถือแตรเขาแกะตัวผู้เจ็ดอันเดินนำหน้าหีบของพระยาห์เวห์ต่อไปพลางเป่าแตร กองกำลังติดอาวุธเดินนำหน้าพวกเขา ส่วนกองระวังหลังเดินตามหลังหีบของพระยาห์เวห์ พวกเขาเป่าแตรไปตลอดทาง
14And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp; so they did six days.
14ในวันที่สอง พวกเขาเดินรอบเมืองหนึ่งรอบแล้วกลับเข้าค่าย พวกเขาทำเช่นนี้เป็นเวลาหกวัน
15And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times; only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
15ในวันที่เจ็ด พวกเขาตื่นแต่เช้าตรู่และเดินรอบเมืองในลักษณะเดิมเจ็ดรอบ เฉพาะวันนี้เท่านั้นที่พวกเขาเดินรอบเมืองเจ็ดรอบ
16And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the horns, that Joshua said unto the people: 'Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
16ในรอบที่เจ็ด เมื่อบรรดาปุโรหิตเป่าแตร โยชูวาพูดกับประชาชนว่า “จงโห่ร้อง เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ประทานเมืองนี้แก่พวกท่านแล้ว!
17And the city shall be devoted, even it and all that is therein, to the LORD; only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
17เมืองนี้กับทุกสิ่งที่อยู่ในเมืองต้องถวายแด่พระยาห์เวห์เพื่อทำลาย มีเพียงราหับหญิงโสเภณีกับทุกคนที่อยู่กับนางในบ้านเท่านั้นที่จะมีชีวิตอยู่ เพราะนางซ่อนผู้ส่งสารที่พวกเราส่งไป
18And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed by taking of the devoted thing, so should ye make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
18ส่วนพวกท่าน จงระวังตัวให้ห่างจากสิ่งที่ถวายเพื่อทำลาย เกรงว่าหลังจากถวายเมืองนี้เพื่อทำลายแล้ว พวกท่านจะหยิบเอาสิ่งของเหล่านั้นมา และทำให้ค่ายอิสราเอลตกอยู่ใต้คำสาปและประสบความเดือดร้อน
19But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy unto the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.'
19แต่เงิน ทองคำ และภาชนะทองสัมฤทธิ์กับเหล็กทั้งหมดเป็นสิ่งบริสุทธิ์แด่พระยาห์เวห์ สิ่งเหล่านั้นต้องนำเข้าไปไว้ในคลังทรัพย์ของพระยาห์เวห์”
20So the people shouted, and the priests blew with the horns. And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the horn, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
20ประชาชนจึงโห่ร้อง และบรรดาปุโรหิตก็เป่าแตร เมื่อประชาชนได้ยินเสียงแตร พวกเขาก็โห่ร้องเสียงดัง กำแพงเมืองพังราบลง ประชาชนจึงต่างคนต่างบุกตรงเข้าเมือง และยึดเมืองไว้ได้
21And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
21พวกเขาใช้ดาบฆ่าทุกชีวิตในเมืองจนหมดสิ้น ทั้งชายและหญิง เด็กและคนชรา รวมทั้งโค แกะ และลา
22And Joshua said unto the two men that had spied out the land: 'Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye swore unto her.'
22โยชูวาพูดกับชายสองคนที่ไปสอดแนมแผ่นดินว่า “จงเข้าไปในบ้านของหญิงโสเภณี และนำหญิงนั้นกับทุกสิ่งที่นางมีออกมาจากที่นั่น ตามที่พวกท่านได้สาบานไว้กับนาง”
23And the young men the spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had, all her kindred also they brought out; and they set them without the camp of Israel.
23ชายหนุ่มผู้สอดแนมจึงเข้าไปและนำราหับ บิดา มารดา พี่น้องของนาง และทุกสิ่งที่นางมีออกมา พวกเขายังนำญาติทั้งหมดของนางออกมาด้วย และให้คนเหล่านั้นอยู่ข้างนอกค่ายอิสราเอล
24And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein; only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
24พวกเขาเผาเมืองและทุกสิ่งในเมืองด้วยไฟ แต่เงิน ทองคำ และภาชนะทองสัมฤทธิ์กับเหล็ก พวกเขานำไปไว้ในคลังทรัพย์แห่งพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
25But Rahab the harlot, and her father's household, and all that she had, did Joshua save alive; and she dwelt in the midst of Israel, unto this day; because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
25โยชูวาช่วยราหับหญิงโสเภณี ครอบครัวของบิดานาง และทุกสิ่งที่นางมีให้รอดพ้น นางอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางชาวอิสราเอลจนถึงทุกวันนี้ เพราะนางซ่อนผู้ส่งสารที่โยชูวาส่งไปสอดแนมเมืองเยรีโค
26And Joshua charged the people with an oath at that time, saying: 'Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city, even Jericho; with the loss of his first-born shall he lay the foundation thereof, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.'
26ในเวลานั้น โยชูวาให้พวกเขาผูกพันตนด้วยคำสาบานว่า “ผู้ใดลุกขึ้นสร้างเมืองเยรีโคนี้ขึ้นใหม่ ขอให้ผู้นั้นถูกสาปแช่งต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์ เขาจะต้องสูญเสียบุตรหัวปีเมื่อวางรากฐานเมือง และต้องสูญเสียบุตรคนสุดท้องเมื่อตั้งประตูเมือง”
27So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
27พระยาห์เวห์ทรงอยู่กับโยชูวา และชื่อเสียงของเขาแพร่ไปทั่วแผ่นดิน
