1Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that doeth justly, that seeketh truth; and I will pardon her.
1“จงวิ่งไปมาตามถนนในเยรูซาเล็ม ดูให้รู้แน่ ไปหาตามลานกว้าง หากพบสักคนที่ทำอย่างยุติธรรมและแสวงหาความจริง เราจะยกโทษให้เยรูซาเล็ม
2And though they say: 'As the LORD liveth', surely they swear falsely.
2แม้พวกเขาพูดว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์มีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด’ ก็ยังสาบานเท็จ”
3O LORD, are not Thine eyes upon truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they were not affected; Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction; they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
3พระยาห์เวห์ พระองค์มองหาความจริงมิใช่หรือ? พระองค์ตีพวกเขา แต่พวกเขาไม่รู้สึกเจ็บปวด พระองค์ทำลายพวกเขา แต่พวกเขาไม่ยอมรับการตักเตือน พวกเขาทำหน้าด้านยิ่งกว่าหิน ไม่ยอมกลับมา
4And I said: 'Surely these are poor, they are foolish, for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the ordinance of their God;
4ข้าพเจ้าพูดว่า “คนเหล่านี้คงเป็นคนยากจน พวกเขาโง่เขลา เพราะไม่รู้จักทางของพระยาห์เวห์ ไม่รู้ข้อบัญญัติของพระเจ้าของตน
5I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the ordinance of their God.' But these had altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bands.
5ข้าพเจ้าจะไปหาคนใหญ่คนโต พูดกับพวกเขา เพราะพวกเขารู้จักทางของพระยาห์เวห์และข้อบัญญัติของพระเจ้าของตน” แต่คนเหล่านี้ก็พร้อมใจกันหักแอกและปลดเครื่องพันธนาการ
6Wherefore a lion out of the forest doth slay them, a wolf of the deserts doth spoil them, a leopard watcheth over their cities, every one that goeth out thence is torn in pieces; because their transgressions are many, their backslidings are increased.
6เพราะฉะนั้น สิงโตจากป่าจะฆ่าพวกเขา หมาป่ายามเย็นจะทำลายพวกเขา เสือดาวจะเฝ้าซุ่มตามเมือง ใครออกมาก็จะถูกฉีกเป็นชิ้น ๆ เพราะพวกเขาละเมิดมากมาย และหันหลังให้เรามากขึ้น
7Wherefore should I pardon thee? The children have forsaken Me, and sworn by no-gods; and when I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the harlots' houses.
7“เราจะยกโทษให้เจ้าได้อย่างไร? ลูกหลานของเจ้าละทิ้งเรา สาบานในนามสิ่งที่ไม่ใช่เทพเจ้า เมื่อเราเลี้ยงพวกเขาจนอิ่ม พวกเขากลับมีชู้ และรวมตัวกันเป็นกลุ่มตามบ้านโสเภณี
8They are become as well-fed horses, lusty stallions; every one neigheth after his neighbour's wife.

9Shall I not punish for these things? saith the LORD; and shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
9เราไม่ควรลงโทษพวกเขาเพราะเรื่องเหล่านี้หรือ?” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราไม่ควรแก้แค้นชนชาติอย่างนี้หรือ?
10Go ye up into her rows, and destroy, but make not a full end; take away her shoots; for they are not the LORD'S.
10“จงขึ้นไปบนกำแพงของเธอและทำลาย แต่อย่าทำลายให้สิ้นซาก ตัดกิ่งของเธอออก เพราะกิ่งเหล่านั้นไม่ใช่ของพระยาห์เวห์
11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against Me, saith the LORD.
11เพราะชนอิสราเอลและชนยูดาห์ทรยศเราอย่างหนัก” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
12They have belied the LORD, and said: 'It is not He, neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine;
12พวกเขาปฏิเสธพระยาห์เวห์ พูดว่า “ไม่ใช่พระองค์หรอก ภัยร้ายจะไม่มาถึงพวกเรา พวกเราจะไม่พบดาบหรือความอดอยาก
13And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them; thus be it done unto them.'
13ผู้เผยพระวจนะจะกลายเป็นสายลม ไม่มีคำของพระองค์ในตัวพวกเขา สิ่งที่พูดนั้นจะเกิดกับพวกเขาเอง”
14Wherefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make My words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
14เพราะฉะนั้น พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพกล่าวว่า “เพราะพวกเจ้าพูดเช่นนี้ จงฟัง เราจะทำให้ถ้อยคำของเราในปากเจ้าเป็นไฟ ทำให้ชนชาตินี้เป็นไม้ ไฟนั้นจะเผาผลาญพวกเขา
15Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD; it is an enduring nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
15ชนอิสราเอลเอ๋ย จงฟัง เราจะนำชนชาติหนึ่งจากแดนไกลมาต่อสู้กับพวกเจ้า” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เป็นชนชาติเข้มแข็ง เป็นชนชาติเก่าแก่ พวกเจ้าไม่รู้ภาษาของเขา ฟังที่เขาพูดไม่เข้าใจ
16Their quiver is an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
16กระบอกลูกธนูของพวกเขาเป็นหลุมศพที่เปิดอยู่ ทุกคนเป็นนักรบกล้าแข็ง
17And they shall eat up thy harvest, and thy bread, they shall eat up thy sons and thy daughters, they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds, they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig-trees; they shall batter thy fortified cities, wherein thou trusteth, with the sword.
17พวกเขาจะกินผลเก็บเกี่ยวและขนมปังที่ลูกชายลูกสาวของเจ้าควรได้กิน จะกินฝูงแพะแกะและฝูงวัวของเจ้า จะกินเถาองุ่นและต้นมะเดื่อของเจ้า จะใช้ดาบทำลายเมืองที่มีป้อมปราการซึ่งเจ้าไว้วางใจ
18But even in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
18“แต่แม้ในเวลานั้น” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราจะไม่ทำลายพวกเจ้าให้สิ้นซาก
19And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say: 'Wherefore hath the LORD our God done all these things unto us?' then shalt Thou say unto them: 'Like as ye have forsaken Me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.'
19เมื่อพวกเจ้าถามว่า ‘ทำไมพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเราทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งหมดกับพวกเรา?’ เจ้าจงบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘พวกเจ้าละทิ้งเราและรับใช้เทพเจ้าต่างถิ่นในแผ่นดินของพวกเจ้าฉันใด พวกเจ้าก็จะรับใช้คนต่างถิ่นในแผ่นดินที่ไม่ใช่ของพวกเจ้าฉันนั้น’
20Declare ye this in the house of Jacob, and announce it in Judah, saying:
20“จงประกาศเรื่องนี้ในหมู่ชนยาโคบ แจ้งข่าวในยูดาห์ว่า
21Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding, that have eyes, and see not, that have ears, and hear not:
21‘ชนชาติที่โง่เขลาและไม่เข้าใจ จงฟังเรื่องนี้ มีตาแต่ไม่เห็น มีหูแต่ไม่ได้ยิน
22Fear ye not Me? saith the LORD; Will ye not tremble at My presence? Who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, an everlasting ordinance, which it cannot pass; and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it.
22พวกเจ้าไม่ยำเกรงเราหรือ?’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว ‘พวกเจ้าไม่สั่นกลัวต่อหน้าเราหรือ? เรากำหนดให้ทรายเป็นขอบเขตของทะเล เป็นข้อกำหนดถาวรที่ทะเลจะข้ามไปไม่ได้ ถึงคลื่นซัดแรงก็เอาชนะไม่ได้ ถึงคำรามก็ยังข้ามไปไม่ได้’
23But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted, and gone.
23“แต่ชนชาตินี้มีใจแข็งขืนและกบฏ พวกเขาขัดขืนแล้วจากไป
24Neither say they in their heart: 'Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth the former rain, and the latter in due season; that keepeth for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.'
24พวกเขาไม่พูดในใจว่า ‘ให้พวกเรายำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเรา พระองค์ให้ฝนต้นฤดูและปลายฤดูตามเวลา รักษาช่วงสัปดาห์เก็บเกี่ยวที่กำหนดไว้ให้พวกเรา’
25Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good from you.
25“ความผิดของพวกเจ้าทำให้สิ่งเหล่านี้หันไป บาปของพวกเจ้าขวางสิ่งดี ๆ ไว้ไม่ให้มาถึง
26For among My people are found wicked men; they pry, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men.
26เพราะมีคนชั่วอยู่ในหมู่ชนชาติของเรา พวกเขาเฝ้าซุ่มเหมือนคนดักนก วางกับดักจับคน
27As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit; therefore they are become great, and waxen rich;
27กรงเต็มไปด้วยนกฉันใด บ้านของพวกเขาก็เต็มไปด้วยการหลอกลวงฉันนั้น พวกเขาจึงมีอำนาจและร่ำรวยขึ้น
28They are waxen fat, they are become sleek; yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they plead not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they might make it to prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
28พวกเขาอ้วนพี ผิวเปล่งปลั่ง ใช่แล้ว พวกเขาทำชั่วเกินใคร ไม่สู้คดีให้ลูกกำพร้าพ่อเพื่อให้พวกเขาอยู่ดีมีสุข ไม่ปกป้องสิทธิของคนขัดสน
29Shall I not punish for these things? saith the LORD; Shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
29“เราไม่ควรลงโทษเพราะเรื่องเหล่านี้หรือ?” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราไม่ควรแก้แค้นชนชาติอย่างนี้หรือ?
30An appalling and horrible thing is come to pass in the land:
30“เรื่องน่าตกตะลึงและสยดสยองเกิดขึ้นในแผ่นดิน
31The prophets prophesy in the service of falsehood, and the priests bear rule at their beck; and My people love to have it so; What then will ye do in the end thereof?
31ผู้เผยพระวจนะกล่าวคำพยากรณ์เท็จ ปุโรหิตปกครองตามอำนาจของตน และชนชาติของเราชอบให้เป็นอย่างนั้น เมื่อเรื่องนี้ถึงจุดจบ พวกเจ้าจะทำอย่างไร?
