1国々よ、近づいて聞け。 諸国の民よ、耳を傾けよ。 地とそこに満ちるすべてのもの、 世界とそこから生じるすべてのものは聞け。
1Come near, ye nations, to hear, and attend, ye peoples; let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof, the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2主はすべての国々に激しく怒り、 そのすべての軍勢に憤っておられる。 主は彼らを完全に滅ぼし、 ほふられるままにされた。
2For the LORD hath indignation against all the nations, and fury against all their host; He hath utterly destroyed them, He hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3彼らの殺された者たちは投げ捨てられ、 その死体から悪臭が立ち上る。 山々は彼らの血で溶ける。
3Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their carcasses shall come up, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4天のすべての軍勢は消え去り、 天は巻物のように巻かれる。 そのすべての軍勢は、 ぶどうの木やいちじくの木から葉がしおれ落ちるように、しおれ落ちる。
4And all the host of heaven shall moulder away, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig-tree.
5わたしの剣は天で十分に血を飲んだ。 見よ、それは裁きのために、 エドムと、わたしが呪った民の上に下る。
5For My sword hath drunk its fill in heaven; behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of My ban, to judgment.
6主の剣は血で満ち、 脂肪に覆われている。 子羊と雄やぎの血、 雄羊の腎臓の脂肪で覆われている。 主がボツラでいけにえをささげ、 エドムの地で大いなる虐殺を行われるからだ。
6The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7野牛も彼らとともに倒れ、 若い雄牛も力強い雄牛とともに倒れる。 その地は血に酔い、 そのちりは脂肪でぬれる。
7And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8主には復讐の日、 シオンの訴えに報いる年があるからだ。
8For the LORD hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the controversy of Zion.
9エドムの川々は瀝青に変わり、 そのちりは硫黄に変わり、 その地は燃える瀝青となる。
9And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10それは夜も昼も消されず、 その煙は永遠に立ち上る。 代々にわたって荒れ果て、 いつまでも、そこを通る者はいない。
10It shall not be quenched night nor day, the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste: none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11ペリカンとやまあらしがそこを所有し、 ふくろうとからすがそこに住む。 主はその上に混沌の測り縄を伸ばし、 空虚の下げ振りを下ろされる。
11But the pelican and the bittern shall possess it, and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein; and He shall stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.
12その高貴な者たちを王に立てようとしても、そこにはだれもいない。 その高官たちはみな、無に帰す。
12As for her nobles, none shall be there to be called to the kingdom; and all her princes shall be nothing.
13その宮殿にはいばらが生え、 その要塞にはいらくさとあざみが生える。 そこはジャッカルの住みか、 だちょうの庭となる。
13And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of wild-dogs, an enclosure for ostriches.
14荒野の獣は狼と出会い、 野やぎは仲間を呼ぶ。 そこには夜の生き物も住み着き、 自分の休む場所を見つける。
14And the wild-cats shall meet with the jackals, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall repose there, and shall find her a place of rest.
15矢蛇はそこに巣を作って卵を産み、 それをかえし、自分の陰の下に集める。 とびもそれぞれ連れ合いとともに、そこに集まる。
15There shall the arrowsnake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and brood under her shadow; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.
16主の書を調べて読め。 これらのうち、一つも欠けることはなく、 連れ合いを欠くものもない。 わたしの口が命じ、 主の霊がそれらを集められたからだ。
16Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read; no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for My mouth it hath commanded, and the breath thereof it hath gathered them.
17主はそれらのためにくじを引き、 御手で測り縄を用いて、その地を分け与えられた。 それらは永遠にそこを所有し、 代々にわたってそこに住む。
17And He hath cast the lot for them, and His hand hath divided it unto them by line; they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
