1主は、油を注がれた者キュロスにこう言われる。わたしは彼の右手を取り、彼の前で国々を従わせ、王たちの武具を脱がせ、彼の前で扉を開き、門が閉じられないようにする。
1Thus saith the LORD to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him, and to loose the loins of kings; to open the doors before him, and that the gates may not be shut:
2「わたしはあなたの前を進み、 険しい場所を平らにする。 青銅の扉を打ち砕き、 鉄のかんぬきを切り裂く。
2I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the doors of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron;
3わたしはあなたに闇の中の宝と、 隠れた場所に秘められた富を与える。 それは、あなたの名を呼ぶわたしが主、 イスラエルの神であることを、あなたが知るためである。
3And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I am the LORD, who call thee by thy name, even the God of Israel.
4わたしのしもべヤコブのため、 わたしが選んだイスラエルのために、 わたしはあなたの名を呼んだ。 あなたがわたしを知らなかったにもかかわらず、 あなたに称号を与えた。
4For the sake of Jacob My servant, and Israel Mine elect, I have called thee by thy name, I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known Me.
5わたしは主。ほかにはいない。 わたしのほかに神はいない。 あなたがわたしを知らなかったにもかかわらず、 わたしはあなたを強くする。
5I am the LORD, and there is none else, beside Me there is no God; I have girded thee, though thou hast not known Me;
6それは、日の昇る所から西に至るまで、 わたしのほかにだれもいないことを人々が知るためである。 わたしは主。 ほかにはいない。
6That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside Me; I am the LORD; and there is none else;
7わたしは光を形造り、 闇を創造する。 平和を造り、 災いを創造する。 わたしは主。 これらすべてを行う者である。
7I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I am the LORD, that doeth all these things.
8天よ、上から雨を降らせよ。 空は義を注ぎ出せ。 地は開いて救いを生み出し、 義をともに芽生えさせよ。 わたし、主がこれを創造した。
8Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open, that they may bring forth salvation, and let her cause righteousness to spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
9自分を造られた方と争う者に災いがある。 地にある土器の一つにすぎないのに。 粘土が、それを形造る者に、 『何を造っているのか』と言うだろうか。 造られた物が、 『彼には手がない』と言うだろうか。
9Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker, as a potsherd with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashioned it: 'What makest thou?' Or: 'Thy work, it hath no hands'?
10父に『何の父になったのか』と言い、 母に『何を産んだのか』と言う者に災いがある。」
10Woe unto him that saith unto his father: 'Wherefore begettest thou?' Or to a woman: 'Wherefore travailest thou?'
11イスラエルの聖なる方、 イスラエルを造られた主はこう言われる。 「あなたがたは、わたしの子らの将来について、わたしに尋ね、 わたしの手の業について、わたしに命じるのか。
11Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: Ask Me of the things that are to come; concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My hands, command ye Me.
12わたしが地を造り、 その上に人を創造した。 わたし自身の手が天を広げ、 そのすべての軍勢に命じた。
12I, even I, have made the earth, and created man upon it; I, even My hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
13わたしは義をもって彼を奮い立たせ、 そのすべての道をまっすぐにする。 彼はわたしの町を建て、 代価も報酬も求めず、 わたしの捕らわれ人を解放する」と万軍の主は言われる。
13I have roused him up in victory, and I make level all his ways; he shall build My city, and he shall let Mine exiles go free, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.
14主はこう言われる。「エジプトの労働の実と、 エチオピアの商品と、 背の高いセバ人は、あなたのもとへ渡って来て、 あなたのものとなる。 彼らはあなたの後に従い、 鎖につながれて渡って来る。 彼らはあなたの前にひれ伏し、 あなたに願って言う。 『まことに、神はあなたのうちにおられ、ほかにはいない。 ほかに神はいない。
14Thus saith the LORD: The labour of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine; they shall go after thee, in chains they shall come over; and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee: Surely God is in thee, and there is none else, there is no other God.
15イスラエルの神、救い主よ、 まことに、あなたはご自分を隠される神です。』」
15Verily Thou art a God that hidest Thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
16偶像を造る者たちはみな、 失望し、辱められる。 彼らはともに恥じ惑う。
16They shall be ashamed, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go in confusion together that are makers of idols.
17しかし、イスラエルは主によって、 永遠の救いをもって救われる。 あなたがたは永遠に、 失望することも辱められることもない。
17O Israel, that art saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
18天を創造された主、 地を形造り、これを造られた神、 地を堅く据え、空虚なものとして創造せず、 人が住むために形造られた方はこう言われる。 「わたしは主。 ほかにはいない。
18For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens, He is God; that formed the earth and made it, He established it, He created it not a waste, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD, and there is none else.
19わたしはひそかに、 闇に包まれた地のどこかで語ったのではない。 わたしはヤコブの子孫に、 『むなしくわたしを求めよ』とは言わなかった。 わたし、主は義を語り、 正しいことを告げる。
19I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I said not unto the seed of Jacob: 'Seek ye Me in vain'; I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
20集まって来て、 国々から逃れて来た者たちよ、ともに近づけ。 木で造った彫像を担ぎ、 救うことのできない神に祈る者たちには知識がない。
20Assemble yourselves and come, draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations; they have no knowledge that carry the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
21告げて、それを示せ。 彼らにともに相談させよ。 だれがこれを昔から示したのか。 だれが遠い昔に告げたのか。 わたし、主ではなかったか。 わたしのほかに神はいない。 義なる神、救い主は、わたしのほかにはいない。
21Declare ye, and bring them near, yea, let them take counsel together: Who hath announced this from ancient time, and declared it of old? Have not I the LORD? And there is no God else beside Me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me.
22地のすべての果てよ、 わたしを仰ぎ見て救われよ。 わたしが神であり、ほかにはいないからだ。
22Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.
23わたしは自分にかけて誓った。 義をもってわたしの口から出た言葉は、 取り消されることがない。 すべての膝はわたしの前にかがみ、 すべての舌は誓いを立てる。
23By Myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from My mouth in righteousness, and shall not come back, that unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
24人々はわたしについて、 『義と力は主にのみある』と言う。」 人々は主のもとへ来る。 主に対して怒りを燃やした者たちはみな、恥を受ける。
24Only in the LORD, shall one say of Me, is victory and strength; even to Him shall men come in confusion, all they that were incensed against Him.
25イスラエルのすべての子孫は主にあって義とされ、 喜ぶ。
25In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
