1Tuituknah hmueih im dongkah a bae lakah a ommongnah buhkak kamat te then.
1Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than a house full of feasting with strife.
2Hlang aka cangbam sal loh hlang yah aka bai capa te a taemrhai vetih, pacaboeina taengah rho a tael ni.
2A servant that dealeth wisely shall have rule over a son that dealeth shamefully, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
3Cak hamla cak am, sui hamla hmai-ulh om, tedae BOEIPA long tah lungbuei ni a noem.
3The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but the LORD trieth the hearts.
4Thae aka huet loh boethae hmuilai kah a honghi te a hnatung tih, talnah ol te hna a kaeng thil.
4A evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips; and a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.
5Khodaeng aka tamdaeng tah amah aka saii kung ni a veet, rhainah soah ko aka hoe khaw hmil mahpawh.
5Whoso mocketh the poor blasphemeth his Maker; and he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
6Ca rhoek kah a ca rhoek tah patong rhoek kah rhuisam la om tih a napa rhoek te khaw ca rhoek kah a boei a mang la om.
6Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7Hlangrhuel hmuilai he a ang ham a rhoeprhui moenih. A honghi kah hmuilai khaw hlangcong hamla koih loeng loeng van pawh.
7Overbearing speech becometh not a churl; much less do lying lips a prince.
8Kapbaih he a kungmah kah mik ah lungto mikdaithen bangla boeih a hoilae tih a cangbam.
8A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it; whithersoever he turneth, he prospereth.
9Hlang kah dumlai aka dah loh lungnah a toem dae, olka dongah aka thovael loh a boeihlum khaw a paekboe sak.
9He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that harpeth on a matter estrangeth a familiar friend.
10Aka ang voei yakhat n'ngawn lakah aka yakming ham tah tluungnah mah a tlaeh pah coeng.
10A rebuke entereth deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred stripes into a fool.
11Boekoek loh boethae bueng a tlap dae, anih taengah puencawn muenying muenyang ni a tueih pa eh.
11A rebellious man seeketh only evil; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12Hlang kah a dueidah a laemhong sak vom neh ka hum uh palueng eh, aka ang kah a anglat nen tah ka hum uh boel eh.
12Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13A then te thae la aka thuung tah a im lamkah a thae te nong rhoe nong mahpawh.
13Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14Olpungkacan a tongnah tah tui a cae sak. Te dongah tuituknah a puek hlanah huu laeh.
14The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water; therefore leave off contention, before the quarrel break out.
15Halang aka tang sak neh hlang dueng aka boe sak, amih rhoi bang te BOEIPA kah a tueilaehkoi ni.
15He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous, even they both are an abomination to the LORD.
16Cueihnah lai ham hlang ang kut dongkah a phu te ba ham lae, a lungbuei neh a om hae moenih.
16Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, seeing he hath no understanding?
17A tue boeih dongah a hui aka lungnah loh, citcai vaengkah ham manuca a cun.
17A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18Lungbuei aka talh hlang loh kut a yuh tih, a hui mikhmuh ah mingphanah rhi a khang.
18A man void of understanding is he that striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his neighbour.
19Boekoek aka lungnah loh olpungnah te a lungnah, a thohka te a sang sak tih pocinah a tlap.
19He loveth transgression that loveth strife; he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
20Lungbuei aka voeldak loh hnothen hmu pawt tih, a ol neh hlang aka maelh khaw yoethae ah cungku.
20He that hath a froward heart findeth no good; and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into evil.
21Amah kah a pha-ueknah ham hlang ang te a cun, te dongah hlang ang kah a napa tah a ko a hoe moenih.
21He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow; and the father of a churl hath no joy.
22Lungbuei kohoe he si la a hoeih sak tih, mueihla a rhawp vaengah songrhuh khaw a koh sak.
22A merry heart is a good medicine; but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
23Laitloeknah a caehlong te phaelh sak ham, halang loh a huep ah kapbaih a loh.
23A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom, to pervert the ways of justice.
24Cueihnah he aka yakming ham tah amah mikhmuh ah a om pah tih, aka ang kah a mik ah tah diklai khobawt la a om pah.
24Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25Capa aka ang tah a napa ham konoinah la om tih, anih aka cun khaw hmuetphawtnah ni.
25A foolish son is vexation to his father, and bitterness to her that bore him.
26Hlang dueng te lai a sah sak khaw, a dueng dongah hlangcong taam ham then pawh.
26To punish also the righteous is not good, nor to strike the noble for their uprightness.
27A ol aka tuem tah mingnah te aka ming la om tih, mueihla phu tlo aka dingsuek tah hlang lungcuei ni.
27He that spareth his words hath knowledge; and he that husbandeth his spirit is a man of discernment.
28Hlang ang pataeng a hil a phah atah aka cueih la, a ka a buem atah aka yakming la a ngai coeng.
28Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise; and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed as a man of understanding.
