1คำจากพระยาห์เวห์ที่มาถึงเยเรมีย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะเกี่ยวกับชาวฟีลิสเตีย ก่อนที่ฟาโรห์จะตีกาซา
1The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.
2พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวดังนี้ “ดูเถิด น้ำเอ่อขึ้นจากทางเหนือ จะกลายเป็นกระแสน้ำล้นฝั่ง จะท่วมดินแดนและทุกสิ่งที่อยู่ในนั้น ท่วมเมืองและผู้คนที่อาศัยอยู่ ผู้คนจะร้องไห้ ทุกคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนจะคร่ำครวญ
2Thus saith the LORD: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and they shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
3เมื่อได้ยินเสียงกีบม้าที่แข็งแกร่งของเขากระทืบ เสียงรถรบของเขาพุ่งมา เสียงล้อของเขาครืนครั่น พ่อทั้งหลายไม่หันกลับมาหาลูก เพราะมืออ่อนแรงยิ่งนัก
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers look not back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4เพราะวันนั้นกำลังมาเพื่อทำลายชาวฟีลิสเตียทั้งหมด ตัดขาดผู้ช่วยเหลือทุกคนที่ยังเหลืออยู่จากไทระและไซดอน เพราะพระยาห์เวห์จะทำลายชาวฟีลิสเตีย ผู้ที่เหลืออยู่จากเกาะคัฟโทร์
4Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Zidon every helper that remaineth; for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

5Baldness is come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is brought to nought, the remnant of their valley; how long wilt thou cut thyself?

6O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
7“เจ้าจะเงียบได้อย่างไร ในเมื่อพระยาห์เวห์สั่งเจ้าแล้ว? พระองค์กำหนดให้ดาบต่อสู้กับอัชเคโลนและชายฝั่งทะเล ที่นั่นแหละ”
7How canst thou be quiet? for the LORD hath given it a charge; against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore, there hath He appointed it.
