1法老攻擊 迦薩 之先，有耶和華論 非利士 人的話臨到先知 耶利米 。
1The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.
2耶和華如此說： 有水從北方發起，成為漲溢的河， 要漲過遍地和其中所有的， 並城和其中所住的。 人必呼喊； 境內的居民都必哀號。
2Thus saith the LORD: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and they shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
3聽見敵人壯馬蹄跳的響聲 和戰車隆隆、車輪轟轟； 為父的手就發軟， 不回頭看顧兒女。
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers look not back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4因為日子將到， 要毀滅一切 非利士 人， 剪除幫助 泰爾 、 西頓 所剩下的人。 原來耶和華必毀滅 非利士 人， 就是 迦斐託 海島餘剩的人。
4Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Zidon every helper that remaineth; for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5迦薩 成了光禿； 平原中所剩的 亞實基倫 歸於無有。 你用刀劃身，要到幾時呢？
5Baldness is come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is brought to nought, the remnant of their valley; how long wilt thou cut thyself?
6耶和華的刀劍哪，你到幾時才止息呢？ 你要入鞘，安靖不動。
6O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
7耶和華既吩咐你攻擊 亞實基倫 和海邊之地， 他已經派定你，焉能止息呢？
7How canst thou be quiet? for the LORD hath given it a charge; against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore, there hath He appointed it.
