1ในปีที่สี่แห่งรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิม บุตรโยสิยาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ คำนี้จากพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงเยเรมีย์ว่า
1And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:
2“จงเอาม้วนหนังสือมา เขียนถ้อยคำทั้งหมดที่เรากล่าวแก่เจ้าเพื่อกล่าวโทษอิสราเอล ยูดาห์ และทุกชนชาติ ตั้งแต่วันที่เราพูดกับเจ้า ตั้งแต่สมัยโยสิยาห์จนถึงวันนี้
2'Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
3บางทีพงศ์พันธุ์ยูดาห์อาจได้ยินถึงภัยร้ายทั้งหมดที่เราคิดจะทำแก่พวกเขา เพื่อแต่ละคนจะหันกลับจากทางชั่วของตน และเราจะให้อภัยความผิดและบาปของพวกเขา”
3It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way, and I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.'

4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which He had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.
5เยเรมีย์สั่งบารุคว่า “ข้าพเจ้าติดข้อจำกัด จึงเข้าไปในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ไม่ได้
5And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying: 'I am detained, I cannot go into the house of the LORD;
6ดังนั้นท่านจงไปอ่านคำจากพระยาห์เวห์จากม้วนหนังสือที่ท่านเขียนตามที่ข้าพเจ้าพูด ให้ประชาชนในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ได้ยินในวันอดอาหาร อ่านให้ชาวยูดาห์ทั้งหมดที่มาจากเมืองของตนได้ยินด้วย
6therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD'S house upon a fast-day; and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
7บางทีพวกเขาอาจนำคำวิงวอนมาทูลต่อพระยาห์เวห์ และแต่ละคนหันกลับจากทางชั่วของตน เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ประกาศโทสะและความโกรธอย่างยิ่งต่อประชาชนนี้”
7It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.'
8บารุค บุตรเนริยาห์ ทำตามทุกสิ่งที่เยเรมีย์ ผู้เผยพระวจนะสั่ง โดยอ่านคำจากพระยาห์เวห์ในหนังสือ ณ พระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
8And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.
9ในปีที่ห้าแห่งรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิม บุตรโยสิยาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ ในเดือนที่เก้า ประชาชนทั้งหมดในเยรูซาเล็ม และทุกคนที่มาจากเมืองต่าง ๆ ของยูดาห์ถึงเยรูซาเล็ม ประกาศการอดอาหารต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์
9Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD, all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
10บารุคจึงอ่านถ้อยคำของเยเรมีย์จากหนังสือในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ ในห้องของเกมาริยาห์ บุตรชาฟาน อาลักษณ์ ในลานด้านบน ตรงทางเข้าประตูใหม่ของพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ ให้ประชาชนทั้งหมดได้ยิน
10Then did Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house, in the ears of all the people.
11เมื่อมีคายาห์ บุตรเกมาริยาห์ บุตรชาฟาน ได้ยินถ้อยคำทั้งหมดของพระยาห์เวห์จากหนังสือ
11And when Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
12เขาลงไปยังวังของกษัตริย์ ในห้องอาลักษณ์ มีขุนนางทั้งหมดนั่งอยู่ที่นั่น ได้แก่เอลีชามา อาลักษณ์ เดไลยาห์ บุตรเชไมอาห์ เอลนาธัน บุตรอัคโบร์ เกมาริยาห์ บุตรชาฟาน เศเดคียาห์ บุตรฮานันยาห์ และขุนนางทั้งหมด
12he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber; and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13มีคายาห์จึงบอกพวกเขาถึงถ้อยคำทั้งหมดที่เขาได้ยินเมื่อบารุคอ่านหนังสือให้ประชาชนฟัง
13Then Micaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14ขุนนางทั้งหมดจึงส่งเยฮูดี บุตรเนธานยาห์ บุตรเชเลมิยาห์ บุตรคูชี ไปหาบารุค บอกว่า “จงเอาม้วนหนังสือที่ท่านอ่านให้ประชาชนได้ยิน ถือมาด้วย” บารุค บุตรเนริยาห์ จึงถือม้วนหนังสือมาหาพวกเขา
14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying: 'Take in thy hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come.' So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
15พวกเขาบอกว่า “นั่งลงเถิด อ่านให้พวกเราฟัง” บารุคจึงอ่านให้พวกเขาฟัง
15And they said unto him: 'Sit down now, and read it in our ears.' So Baruch read it in their ears.
16เมื่อพวกเขาได้ยินถ้อยคำทั้งหมดแล้ว ก็หันมามองกันด้วยความกลัว และบอกบารุคว่า “พวกเราจะบอกถ้อยคำทั้งหมดนี้แก่กษัตริย์แน่”
16Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said unto Baruch: 'We will surely tell the king of all these words.'
17พวกเขาถามบารุคว่า “บอกพวกเราเถิด ท่านเขียนถ้อยคำทั้งหมดนี้ตามที่เขาพูดได้อย่างไร?”
17And they asked Baruch, saying: 'Tell us now: How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?'
18บารุคตอบว่า “เขาพูดถ้อยคำทั้งหมดนี้ให้ข้าพเจ้าฟัง และข้าพเจ้าก็เขียนด้วยหมึกในหนังสือ”
18Then Baruch answered them: 'He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.'
19ขุนนางจึงบอกบารุคว่า “ท่านกับเยเรมีย์จงไปซ่อนตัว อย่าให้ใครรู้ว่าพวกท่านอยู่ที่ไหน”
19Then said the princes unto Baruch: 'Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah, and let no man know where ye are.'
20พวกเขาเข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์ในลาน แต่เก็บม้วนหนังสือไว้ในห้องของเอลีชามา อาลักษณ์ แล้วทูลถ้อยคำทั้งหมดให้กษัตริย์ฟัง
20And they went in to the king into the court; but they had deposited the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.
21กษัตริย์จึงส่งเยฮูดีไปเอาม้วนหนังสือ เขานำออกมาจากห้องของเอลีชามา อาลักษณ์ เยฮูดีอ่านให้กษัตริย์ฟัง และให้ขุนนางทั้งหมดที่ยืนข้างกษัตริย์ฟัง
21So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes that stood beside the king.
22เวลานั้นกษัตริย์นั่งอยู่ในตำหนักฤดูหนาว ในเดือนที่เก้า มีไฟลุกในกระถางไฟอยู่ตรงหน้าเขา
22Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month; and the brazier was burning before him.
23เมื่อเยฮูดีอ่านไปสามหรือสี่แนวข้อความ กษัตริย์ก็ใช้มีดเหลาตัดม้วนหนังสือ แล้วโยนเข้าไปในไฟที่อยู่ในกระถางไฟ จนม้วนหนังสือทั้งหมดถูกไฟในกระถางไฟเผาหมด
23And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24กษัตริย์และข้าราชบริพารที่ได้ยินถ้อยคำทั้งหมดนี้ไม่กลัว และไม่ฉีกเสื้อของตน
24Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
25แม้เอลนาธัน เดไลยาห์ และเกมาริยาห์ทูลวิงวอนกษัตริย์ว่าอย่าเผาม้วนหนังสือ เขาก็ไม่ฟัง
25Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had entreated the king not to burn the roll; but he would not hear them.
26กษัตริย์สั่งเยราเมเอล บุตรของกษัตริย์ เสไรยาห์ บุตรอัสรีเอล และเชเลมิยาห์ บุตรอับเดเอล ให้จับบารุค อาลักษณ์และเยเรมีย์ผู้เผยพระวจนะ แต่พระยาห์เวห์ซ่อนพวกเขาไว้
26And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.
27หลังจากกษัตริย์เผาม้วนหนังสือและถ้อยคำที่บารุคเขียนตามที่เยเรมีย์พูดแล้ว คำจากพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงเยเรมีย์ว่า
27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying:
28“จงเอาม้วนหนังสืออีกม้วน เขียนถ้อยคำเดิมทั้งหมดที่อยู่ในม้วนแรก ซึ่งเยโฮยาคิม กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ เผาไปแล้ว
28'Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
29จงกล่าวถึงเยโฮยาคิม กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวดังนี้ “เจ้าเผาม้วนหนังสือนี้และพูดว่า ‘ทำไมเจ้าจึงเขียนว่า “กษัตริย์บาบิโลนจะมาแน่ จะทำลายดินแดนนี้ และทำให้คนกับสัตว์หมดไปจากที่นี่”?’”
29And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say: Thus saith the LORD: Thou hast burned this roll, saying: Why hast thou written therein, saying: The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
30ดังนั้นพระยาห์เวห์จึงกล่าวถึงเยโฮยาคิม กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ว่า “เขาจะไม่มีใครมานั่งบนบัลลังก์ดาวิด ศพของเขาจะถูกทิ้งให้ตากความร้อนในเวลากลางวันและน้ำค้างแข็งในเวลากลางคืน
30Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31เราจะลงโทษเขา ลูกหลานและข้าราชบริพารของเขาเพราะความผิดของพวกเขา เราจะนำภัยร้ายทั้งหมดที่เราประกาศต่อพวกเขามาสู่พวกเขา มาสู่ผู้คนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็ม และชาวยูดาห์ แต่พวกเขาไม่ฟัง”’”
31And I will visit upon him and his seed and his servants their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they hearkened not.'
32เยเรมีย์จึงเอาม้วนหนังสืออีกม้วนมอบให้บารุค อาลักษณ์ บุตรเนริยาห์ เขาเขียนถ้อยคำทั้งหมดของหนังสือที่เยโฮยาคิม กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ เผาไฟ ลงในม้วนนั้นตามที่เยเรมีย์พูด และมีถ้อยคำทำนองเดียวกันเพิ่มเข้าไปอีกมาก
32Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides unto them many like words.
