1โอ้ หากศีรษะข้าพเจ้าเป็นน้ำ และตาเป็นน้ำพุแห่งน้ำตา! ข้าพเจ้าจะได้ร้องไห้ทั้งวันทั้งคืน ให้ผู้ถูกฆ่าของธิดาแห่งชนชาติของข้าพเจ้า!
1(8-23) Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
2โอ้ หากข้าพเจ้ามีที่พักของคนเดินทาง อยู่ในถิ่นกันดาร! จะได้ทิ้งชนชาติของข้าพเจ้า แล้วจากพวกเขาไป! เพราะพวกเขาล้วนมีชู้ เป็นชุมนุมคนทรยศ
2(9-1) Oh that I were in the wilderness, in a lodging-place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
3“ลิ้นของพวกเขาเหมือนคันธนู ที่พวกเขาง้างไว้เพื่อกล่าวคำโกหก พวกเขามีกำลังในแผ่นดิน แต่ไม่ได้มีกำลังเพื่อความจริง เพราะทำชั่วแล้วทำชั่วอีก และไม่รู้จักเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
3(9-2) And they bend their tongue, their bow of falsehood; and they are grown mighty in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and Me they know not, saith the LORD.
4“ทุกคนจงระวังเพื่อนบ้าน อย่าไว้ใจพี่น้องคนใด เพราะพี่น้องทุกคนจะเบียดคนอื่นออกแล้วเข้าแทนที่อย่างแน่นอน เพื่อนบ้านทุกคนเที่ยวใส่ร้าย
4(9-3) Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother acteth subtly, and every neighbour goeth about with slanders.
5เพื่อนต่างหลอกกัน ไม่พูดความจริง พวกเขาฝึกลิ้นให้พูดโกหก ทำผิดจนเหน็ดเหนื่อย
5(9-4) And they deceive every one his neighbour, and truth they speak not; they have taught their tongue to speak lies, they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
6เจ้าอยู่ท่ามกลางการหลอกลวง เพราะการหลอกลวง พวกเขาไม่ยอมรู้จักเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
6(9-5) Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me, saith the LORD.
7เพราะฉะนั้น พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพกล่าวว่า “จงฟัง เราจะหลอมและทดสอบพวกเขา จะให้เราทำอย่างไรกับธิดาแห่งชนชาติของเรา?
7(9-6) Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will smelt them, and try them; for how else should I do, because of the daughter of My people?
8ลิ้นของพวกเขาเป็นลูกธนูมรณะ พูดแต่หลอกลวง ปากพูดดีกับเพื่อนบ้าน แต่ในใจคอยซุ่มโจมตีเขา
8(9-7) Their tongue is a sharpened arrow, it speaketh deceit; one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart he layeth wait for him.
9เราไม่ควรลงโทษพวกเขาเพราะเรื่องเหล่านี้หรือ?” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เราไม่ควรแก้แค้นชนชาติอย่างนี้หรือ?
9(9-8) Shall I not punish them for these things? saith the LORD; Shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10เราจะร้องไห้ร่ำไห้ให้ภูเขา และคร่ำครวญให้ทุ่งเลี้ยงสัตว์ในถิ่นกันดาร เพราะถูกเผาจนไม่มีใครเดินผ่าน ไม่มีใครได้ยินเสียงฝูงสัตว์ ทั้งนกในท้องฟ้าและสัตว์ต่างหนีไป ไม่อยู่แล้ว
10(9-9) For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passeth through. And they hear not the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled, and gone.
11“เราจะทำให้เยรูซาเล็มเป็นกองซาก เป็นที่อยู่ของหมาจิ้งจอก จะทำให้เมืองต่าง ๆ ของยูดาห์รกร้าง ไม่มีใครอาศัยอยู่”
11(9-10) And I will make Jerusalem heaps, a lair of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without an inhabitant.
12ใครฉลาดพอจะเข้าใจเรื่องนี้? ใครได้รับถ้อยคำจากปากของพระยาห์เวห์จนประกาศได้? ทำไมแผ่นดินจึงพินาศ ถูกเผาจนเหมือนถิ่นกันดาร ไม่มีใครเดินผ่าน?
12(9-11) Who is the wise man, that he may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it? Wherefore is the land perished and laid waste like a wilderness, so that none passeth through?
13พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า “เพราะพวกเขาละทิ้งข้อบัญญัติที่เราวางไว้ต่อหน้า ไม่เชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา ไม่เดินตามทางของเรา
13(9-12) And the LORD saith: Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not hearkened to My voice, neither walked therein;
14แต่ทำตามความดื้อรั้นของใจตน และตามเทพบาอัลทั้งหลายตามที่บรรพบุรุษสอน”
14(9-13) But have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them.
15เพราะฉะนั้น พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพ พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล กล่าวว่า “จงฟัง เราจะให้ชนชาตินี้กินวอร์มวูดและดื่มน้ำพิษ
15(9-14) Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
16เราจะกระจายพวกเขาไปในหมู่ชนชาติที่ทั้งพวกเขาและบรรพบุรุษไม่เคยรู้จัก จะส่งดาบตามไปจนทำลายพวกเขาหมด”
16(9-15) I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.
17พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพกล่าวว่า “จงคิดให้ดี เรียกบรรดาหญิงที่ร่ำไห้ให้มา ส่งคนไปเรียกหญิงที่ชำนาญให้มา
17(9-16) Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the wise women, that they may come;
18ให้พวกเธอรีบมา ร่ำไห้เพื่อพวกเรา จนน้ำตาไหลจากดวงตาของพวกเรา น้ำหลั่งจากเปลือกตา
18(9-17) And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
19เพราะได้ยินเสียงร่ำไห้จากศิโยนว่า ‘พวกเราพินาศเพียงใด! พวกเราอับอายอย่างยิ่ง เพราะทิ้งแผ่นดินไป เพราะพวกเขาพังที่อยู่ของพวกเรา’”
19(9-18) For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion: 'How are we undone! We are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.'
20ถึงอย่างนั้น ผู้หญิงทั้งหลาย จงฟังคำของพระยาห์เวห์ ให้หูของพวกท่านรับถ้อยคำจากปากพระองค์ สอนลูกสาวของพวกท่านให้ร่ำไห้ แต่ละคนจงสอนเพื่อนบ้านหญิงให้ร้องเพลงคร่ำครวญ
20(9-19) Yea, hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of His mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation:
21เพราะความตายปีนเข้ามาทางหน้าต่างของพวกเรา เข้ามาในวังของพวกเรา เพื่อพรากเด็ก ๆ ไปจากข้างนอก และพรากชายหนุ่มไปจากถนน
21(9-20) 'For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from the street, and the young men from the broad places. —
22จงกล่าวว่า “พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวดังนี้ “‘ศพคนจะตกลงบนทุ่งโล่งเหมือนมูลสัตว์ เหมือนรวงหนึ่งกำมือที่เหลือหลังคนเกี่ยว ไม่มีใครเก็บ’”
22(9-21) Speak: Thus saith the LORD — And the carcasses of men fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, which none gathereth.'
23พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า “อย่าให้คนฉลาดโอ้อวดปัญญาของตน อย่าให้คนมีกำลังโอ้อวดกำลังของตน อย่าให้คนรวยโอ้อวดทรัพย์สินของตน
23(9-22) Thus saith the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches;
24แต่คนที่จะโอ้อวด จงโอ้อวดเรื่องนี้ ว่าตนเข้าใจและรู้จักเรา ว่าเราคือพระยาห์เวห์ ผู้แสดงความรักมั่นคง ความยุติธรรมและความเที่ยงธรรมในแผ่นดิน เพราะเราพอใจในสิ่งเหล่านี้” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
24(9-23) But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD who exercise mercy, justice, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
25“จงฟัง วันเวลาจะมาถึง” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “เมื่อเราจะลงโทษทุกคนที่เข้าสุหนัตเพียงร่างกาย
25(9-24) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them that are circumcised in their uncircumcision:
26คืออียิปต์ ยูดาห์ เอโดม ชาวอัมโมน โมอับ และทุกคนที่ตัดผมบริเวณขมับซึ่งอยู่ในถิ่นกันดาร เพราะชนชาติทั้งหลายไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัต และชนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดก็ไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัตในใจ”
26(9-25) Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that have the corners of their hair polled, that dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, but all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
