1ในช่วงต้นรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิม บุตรโยสิยาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ คำนี้มาจากพระยาห์เวห์ว่า
1In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from the LORD, saying:
2“พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวดังนี้ ‘จงยืนในลานพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ พูดกับผู้คนจากทุกเมืองในยูดาห์ที่มานมัสการในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ บอกทุกคำที่เราสั่งให้เจ้าพูดกับพวกเขา อย่าละเว้นแม้แต่คำเดียว
2'Thus saith the LORD: Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word.
3พวกเขาอาจยอมฟัง และแต่ละคนหันกลับจากทางชั่ว เพื่อเราจะได้เปลี่ยนใจเรื่องภัยร้ายที่เราคิดจะให้เกิดกับพวกเขาเพราะความชั่วที่พวกเขาทำ’”
3It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent Me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
4จงบอกพวกเขาว่า “พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวดังนี้ ‘หากพวกเจ้าไม่ฟังเรา ไม่ดำเนินตามข้อบัญญัติที่เราวางไว้ตรงหน้าพวกเจ้า
4And thou shalt say unto them: Thus saith the LORD: If ye will not hearken to Me, to walk in My law, which I have set before you,
5ไม่ฟังถ้อยคำของผู้เผยพระวจนะ ผู้รับใช้ของเรา ที่เราส่งมาหาพวกเจ้า เราตื่นแต่เช้าและส่งพวกเขามาครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า แต่พวกเจ้าก็ไม่ฟัง
5to hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even sending them betimes and often, but ye have not hearkened;
6เราจะทำให้พระนิเวศนี้เป็นเหมือนชิโลห์ และทำให้เมืองนี้เป็นคำสาปแช่งสำหรับทุกชนชาติบนแผ่นดิน’”
6then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.'
7ปุโรหิต ผู้เผยพระวจนะ และประชาชนทั้งหมดได้ยินเยเรมีย์กล่าวถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
7So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.
8เมื่อเยเรมีย์พูดทุกสิ่งที่พระยาห์เวห์สั่งให้เขาพูดกับประชาชนทั้งหมดจบแล้ว ปุโรหิต ผู้เผยพระวจนะ และประชาชนทั้งหมดก็จับตัวเขา พูดว่า “เจ้าต้องตายแน่!
8Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying: 'Thou shalt surely die.
9ทำไมเจ้าจึงเผยพระวจนะในนามพระยาห์เวห์ว่า ‘พระนิเวศนี้จะเป็นเหมือนชิโลห์ และเมืองนี้จะรกร้างไม่มีคนอาศัย’?” ประชาชนทั้งหมดเบียดเสียดล้อมเยเรมีย์อยู่ในพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
9Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying: This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant?' And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
10เมื่อขุนนางของยูดาห์ได้ยินเรื่องเหล่านี้ พวกเขาขึ้นมาจากวังของกษัตริย์ถึงพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์ และนั่งที่ทางเข้าประตูใหม่ของพระนิเวศของพระยาห์เวห์
10When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.
11ปุโรหิตและผู้เผยพระวจนะกล่าวกับขุนนางและประชาชนทั้งหมดว่า “คนนี้สมควรตาย เพราะเขาพยากรณ์ต่อเมืองนี้ ดังที่พวกท่านได้ยินด้วยหูของตนเอง”
11Then spoke the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying: 'This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.'
12เยเรมีย์จึงกล่าวกับขุนนางทั้งหมดและประชาชนทั้งหมดว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้ามาพยากรณ์ต่อพระนิเวศนี้และต่อเมืองนี้ ด้วยถ้อยคำทั้งหมดที่พวกท่านได้ยิน
12Then spoke Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying: 'The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
13ดังนั้นบัดนี้จงแก้ไขวิถีชีวิตและการกระทำของพวกท่าน เชื่อฟังเสียงพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของพวกท่าน แล้วพระยาห์เวห์จะเปลี่ยนใจไม่ให้ภัยร้ายที่พระองค์ประกาศเกิดขึ้นกับพวกท่าน
13Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and hearken to the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent Him of the evil that He hath pronounced against you.
14ส่วนข้าพเจ้า ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าอยู่ในมือพวกท่านแล้ว จงทำกับข้าพเจ้าตามที่พวกท่านเห็นว่าดีและถูกต้อง
14But as for me, behold, I am in your hand; do with me as is good and right in your eyes.
15แต่ขอให้รู้แน่ว่า หากพวกท่านฆ่าข้าพเจ้า พวกท่านจะนำความผิดฐานหลั่งเลือดผู้บริสุทธิ์มาสู่ตัวเอง มาสู่เมืองนี้และผู้คนที่อาศัยอยู่ที่นี่ เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ส่งข้าพเจ้ามาหาพวกท่านจริง ๆ เพื่อกล่าวถ้อยคำทั้งหมดนี้ให้พวกท่านได้ยิน”
15Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.'
16ขุนนางและประชาชนทั้งหมดจึงบอกปุโรหิตและผู้เผยพระวจนะว่า “คนนี้ไม่สมควรตาย เพราะเขาพูดกับพวกเราในนามพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของพวกเรา”
16Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: 'This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.'
17ผู้อาวุโสของดินแดนนั้นบางคนจึงลุกขึ้นกล่าวกับประชาชนทั้งหมดที่ชุมนุมอยู่ว่า
17Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
18“มีคาห์ชาวโมเรเชทเผยพระวจนะในสมัยเฮเซคียาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ เขากล่าวกับประชาชนยูดาห์ทั้งหมดว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์แห่งกองทัพกล่าวดังนี้ “ศิโยนจะถูกไถเหมือนทุ่งนา เยรูซาเล็มจะกลายเป็นกองซาก ภูเขาที่ตั้งพระนิเวศจะเป็นเหมือนที่สูงในป่า”’
18'Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
19เฮเซคียาห์ กษัตริย์ยูดาห์ และชาวยูดาห์ทั้งหมดฆ่าเขาหรือ? กษัตริย์ไม่ได้ยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์และวิงวอนขอความโปรดปรานจากพระยาห์เวห์หรอกหรือ? แล้วพระยาห์เวห์ก็เปลี่ยนใจไม่ให้ภัยพิบัติที่พระองค์ประกาศเกิดขึ้นกับพวกเขา การทำเช่นนั้นก็เท่ากับพวกเราทำความชั่วอย่างใหญ่หลวงต่อตัวเอง!”
19Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and entreat the favour of the LORD, and the LORD repented Him of the evil which He had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our own souls.'
20ยังมีอีกคนหนึ่งที่เผยพระวจนะในนามพระยาห์เวห์ คืออุรียาห์ บุตรเชไมอาห์ จากคีริยาทเยอาริม เขาพยากรณ์ต่อเมืองนี้และต่อดินแดนนี้ด้วยถ้อยคำเหมือนเยเรมีย์ทุกประการ
20And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah;
21เมื่อกษัตริย์เยโฮยาคิม พร้อมกับนักรบผู้เก่งกล้าทั้งหมดและขุนนางทั้งหมด ได้ยินถ้อยคำของเขา กษัตริย์ก็หาทางฆ่าเขา แต่เมื่ออุรียาห์รู้เรื่อง เขากลัว จึงหนีไปอียิปต์
21and when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;
22กษัตริย์เยโฮยาคิมจึงส่งเอลนาธัน บุตรอัคโบร์ และคนจำนวนหนึ่งไปกับเขาถึงอียิปต์
22and Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;
23พวกเขานำอุรียาห์ออกจากอียิปต์มาหากษัตริย์เยโฮยาคิม กษัตริย์ฆ่าเขาด้วยดาบและโยนศพลงในหลุมฝังศพของสามัญชน
23and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the children of the people.
24แต่อาหิคัม บุตรชาฟาน คอยช่วยเหลือเยเรมีย์ จึงไม่มีใครมอบตัวเขาให้ประชาชนฆ่า
24Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
