1คำจากพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงเยเรมีย์ หลังจากเนบูซาระดาน ผู้บัญชาการทหารยาม ปล่อยเขาไปจากรามาห์ ก่อนหน้านั้นเนบูซาระดานรับตัวเยเรมีย์ไว้ขณะที่เขาถูกล่ามโซ่อยู่ท่ามกลางเชลยทั้งหมดจากเยรูซาเล็มและยูดาห์ ผู้ถูกกวาดต้อนไปเป็นเชลยในบาบิโลน
1The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2ผู้บัญชาการทหารยามรับตัวเยเรมีย์มาและบอกว่า “พระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าของท่าน ประกาศภัยร้ายนี้ต่อที่นี่
2And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him: 'The LORD thy God pronounced this evil upon this place;
3พระยาห์เวห์นำภัยร้ายนั้นมา และทำตามที่พระองค์กล่าว เพราะพวกท่านทำบาปต่อพระยาห์เวห์และไม่เชื่อฟังเสียงพระองค์ เรื่องนี้จึงเกิดขึ้นกับพวกท่าน
3and the LORD hath brought it, and done according as He spoke; because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not hearkened to His voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4บัดนี้ วันนี้ข้าพเจ้าปลดโซ่ที่มือท่านแล้ว หากท่านเห็นว่าดีที่จะไปบาบิโลนกับข้าพเจ้า ก็มาเถิด ข้าพเจ้าจะดูแลท่าน แต่หากท่านเห็นว่าไม่ดีที่จะไปบาบิโลนกับข้าพเจ้า ก็ไม่ต้องไป ดูเถิด ดินแดนทั้งหมดอยู่ตรงหน้าท่าน ท่านเห็นว่าควรไปที่ไหน ที่ไหนเหมาะสม ก็ไปที่นั่นเถิด”
4And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which are upon thy hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will look well unto thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear; behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and right unto thee to go, thither go. —
5ขณะที่เยเรมีย์ยังไม่ได้กลับไป ผู้บัญชาการทหารยามบอกเขาว่า “ถ้าอย่างนั้นจงกลับไปหาเกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม บุตรชาฟาน ที่กษัตริย์บาบิโลนตั้งให้ปกครองเมืองต่าง ๆ ของยูดาห์ อาศัยอยู่กับเขาท่ามกลางประชาชน หรือไปที่ไหนก็ได้ที่ท่านเห็นว่าเหมาะสม” ผู้บัญชาการทหารยามจึงให้อาหารและของขวัญแก่เขา แล้วปล่อยไป
5Yet he would not go back. — Go back then to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right unto thee to go.' So the captain of the guard gave him an allowance and a present, and let him go.
6เยเรมีย์ไปหาเกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม ที่มิสปาห์ และอาศัยอยู่กับเขาท่ามกลางประชาชนที่เหลือในดินแดน
6Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7เมื่อผู้บัญชาการกองกำลังทั้งหมดที่อยู่ในชนบทและคนของพวกเขาได้ยินว่า กษัตริย์บาบิโลนตั้งเกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม ให้ปกครองดินแดน และมอบผู้ชาย ผู้หญิง เด็ก และคนที่ยากจนที่สุดในดินแดน ผู้ที่ไม่ได้ถูกกวาดต้อนไปเป็นเชลยในบาบิโลน ไว้ให้เขาดูแล
7Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8อิชมาเอล บุตรเนธานยาห์ โยฮานันและโยนาธาน บุตรคาเรอาห์ เสไรยาห์ บุตรทันฮูเมท บุตรทั้งหลายของเอฟัยชาวเนโทฟาห์ และเยซันยาห์ บุตรของชาวมาอาคาห์ จึงมาหาเกดาลิยาห์ที่มิสปาห์ พร้อมกับคนของตน
8then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.
9เกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม บุตรชาฟาน สาบานกับพวกเขาและคนของพวกเขาว่า “อย่ากลัวที่จะรับใช้ชาวเคลเดีย จงอยู่ในดินแดนและรับใช้กษัตริย์บาบิโลน แล้วพวกท่านจะอยู่ดี
9And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and to their men, saying: 'Fear not to serve the Chaldeans; dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10ส่วนข้าพเจ้านั้น ข้าพเจ้าจะอยู่ที่มิสปาห์ เพื่อยืนต่อหน้าชาวเคลเดียที่จะมาหาพวกเรา แต่พวกท่านจงเก็บเหล้าองุ่น ผลไม้ฤดูร้อน และน้ำมัน ใส่ไว้ในภาชนะของตน และอยู่ในเมืองที่พวกท่านยึดไว้”
10As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that may come unto us; but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.'
11เมื่อชาวยิวทั้งหมดที่อยู่ในโมอับ ท่ามกลางชาวอัมโมน ในเอโดม และในทุกดินแดน ได้ยินเช่นกันว่ากษัตริย์บาบิโลนเหลือชาวยูดาห์ไว้กลุ่มหนึ่ง และตั้งเกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม บุตรชาฟาน ให้ปกครองพวกเขา
11Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan;
12ชาวยิวทั้งหมดก็กลับจากทุกแห่งที่ถูกขับไล่ไป มายังดินแดนยูดาห์ มาหาเกดาลิยาห์ที่มิสปาห์ และเก็บเหล้าองุ่นกับผลไม้ฤดูร้อนได้มากมาย
12then all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits in great abundance.
13โยฮานัน บุตรคาเรอาห์ และผู้บัญชาการกองกำลังทั้งหมดที่อยู่ในชนบท มาหาเกดาลิยาห์ที่มิสปาห์ด้วย
13Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14บอกเขาว่า “ท่านรู้ไหมว่า บาอาลิส กษัตริย์ของชาวอัมโมน ส่งอิชมาเอล บุตรเนธานยาห์ มาเอาชีวิตท่าน?” แต่เกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม ไม่เชื่อพวกเขา
14and said unto him: 'Dost thou know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take thy life?' But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15โยฮานัน บุตรคาเรอาห์ จึงพูดกับเกดาลิยาห์อย่างลับ ๆ ที่มิสปาห์ว่า “โปรดให้ข้าพเจ้าไปฆ่าอิชมาเอล บุตรเนธานยาห์ จะไม่มีใครรู้เลย ทำไมจะปล่อยให้เขาเอาชีวิตท่าน แล้วชาวยิวทั้งหมดที่มารวมอยู่กับท่านต้องกระจัดกระจาย และผู้ที่เหลืออยู่ของยูดาห์ต้องพินาศ?”
15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying: 'Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it; wherefore should he take thy life, that all the Jews that are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?'
16แต่เกดาลิยาห์ บุตรอาหิคัม บอกโยฮานัน บุตรคาเรอาห์ว่า “ท่านอย่าทำเรื่องนี้ เพราะท่านพูดเท็จเกี่ยวกับอิชมาเอล”
16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah: 'Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.'
