1ดังนั้น ก่อนสิ่งอื่นใด ข้าพเจ้าขอให้มีคำวิงวอน คำอธิษฐาน การอธิษฐานเผื่อ และการขอบพระคุณเพื่อมนุษย์ทุกคน
1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2เพื่อกษัตริย์ทั้งหลายและทุกคนที่อยู่ในตำแหน่งสูง เพื่อเราจะได้ดำเนินชีวิตอย่างสงบและเงียบ ด้วยความเคารพพระเจ้าและความสำรวมทุกประการ
2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3สิ่งนี้ดีและเป็นที่ยอมรับในสายตาของพระเจ้าผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเรา
3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4ผู้ปรารถนาให้ทุกคนได้รับความรอดและมาถึงความรู้เต็มที่เกี่ยวกับความจริง
4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5เพราะมีพระเจ้าองค์เดียว และมีคนกลางระหว่างพระเจ้ากับมนุษย์เพียงคนเดียว คือมนุษย์พระคริสต์เยซู
5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6ผู้มอบพระองค์เองเป็นค่าไถ่สำหรับทุกคน เป็นคำพยานในเวลาที่เหมาะสม
6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7ข้าพเจ้าได้รับแต่งตั้งให้เป็นผู้ประกาศและอัครทูตสำหรับคำพยานนี้ ข้าพเจ้าพูดความจริงในพระคริสต์ ไม่ได้โกหก และเป็นผู้สอนคนต่างชาติในเรื่องความเชื่อและความจริง
7Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8ดังนั้น ข้าพเจ้าต้องการให้ผู้ชายในทุกแห่งอธิษฐาน โดยยกมือที่บริสุทธิ์ขึ้นโดยไม่มีความโกรธหรือความสงสัย
8I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9เช่นเดียวกัน ให้ผู้หญิงแต่งตัวด้วยเสื้อผ้าที่เหมาะสม อย่างสุภาพและรู้จักวางตัว ไม่ประดับด้วยผมถัก ทองคำ ไข่มุก หรือเสื้อผ้าราคาแพง
9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10แต่ให้ประดับตัวด้วยการทำดี ซึ่งเหมาะกับผู้หญิงที่ประกาศว่าตนเคารพพระเจ้า
10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11ให้ผู้หญิงเรียนรู้อย่างสงบและยอมตามอย่างเต็มที่
11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12แต่ข้าพเจ้าไม่อนุญาตให้ผู้หญิงสอนหรือใช้อำนาจเหนือผู้ชาย แต่ให้เธออยู่ในความสงบ
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13เพราะอาดัมถูกก่อร่างขึ้นก่อน แล้วจึงเอวา
13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14อาดัมไม่ได้ถูกหลอก แต่ผู้หญิงถูกหลอกและตกอยู่ในการไม่เชื่อฟัง
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15แต่ผู้หญิงจะได้รับความรอดผ่านการคลอดบุตร ถ้าพวกเธอยังคงอยู่ในความเชื่อ ความรัก และความบริสุทธิ์ พร้อมกับการรู้จักควบคุมตนเอง
15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
