1แต่พระวิญญาณกล่าวอย่างชัดเจนว่า ในเวลาต่อมา บางคนจะละทิ้งความเชื่อ ไปสนใจวิญญาณที่หลอกลวงและคำสอนของปีศาจ
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2โดยความหน้าซื่อใจคดของคนโกหก ซึ่งจิตสำนึกของพวกเขาถูกนาบเหมือนด้วยเหล็กร้อน
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3คนเหล่านี้ห้ามแต่งงานและสั่งให้งดอาหารที่พระเจ้าสร้างไว้ให้ผู้ที่เชื่อและรู้จักความจริงรับด้วยการขอบพระคุณ
3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4เพราะทุกสิ่งที่พระเจ้าสร้างนั้นดี และไม่ควรปฏิเสธสิ่งใดเลยถ้ารับด้วยการขอบพระคุณ
4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5เพราะสิ่งนั้นได้รับการชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ด้วยถ้อยคำของพระเจ้าและการอธิษฐาน
5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6ถ้าคุณชี้แจงเรื่องเหล่านี้แก่พี่น้อง คุณจะเป็นผู้รับใช้ที่ดีของพระคริสต์เยซู โดยมีถ้อยคำแห่งความเชื่อและคำสอนที่ดีที่คุณติดตามมาหล่อเลี้ยงคุณ
6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7แต่จงปฏิเสธนิทานที่ไม่เคารพพระเจ้าและไร้สาระแบบที่หญิงชราเล่ากัน จงฝึกตัวเองให้มีความเคารพพระเจ้า
7But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8เพราะการฝึกร่างกายมีประโยชน์อยู่บ้าง แต่ความเคารพพระเจ้ามีประโยชน์ในทุกด้าน เพราะมีพระสัญญาสำหรับชีวิตในปัจจุบันและชีวิตที่จะมาถึง
8For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9คำกล่าวนี้เชื่อถือได้และสมควรที่ทุกคนจะยอมรับ
9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10ด้วยเหตุนี้เราจึงตรากตรำและทนคำดูหมิ่น เพราะเราวางใจในพระเจ้าผู้มีชีวิตอยู่ ผู้ช่วยให้รอดของมนุษย์ทุกคน โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่เชื่อ
10For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11จงสั่งและสอนเรื่องเหล่านี้
11These things command and teach.
12อย่าให้ใครดูหมิ่นคุณเพราะยังหนุ่ม แต่จงเป็นแบบอย่างแก่ผู้ที่เชื่อ ทั้งในคำพูด การดำเนินชีวิต ความรัก วิญญาณ ความเชื่อ และความบริสุทธิ์
12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13จนกว่าข้าพเจ้าจะมา จงใส่ใจกับการอ่าน การเตือนสอน และการสอน
13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14อย่าละเลยของประทานที่อยู่ในตัวคุณ ซึ่งมอบให้คุณโดยคำพยากรณ์ พร้อมกับการวางมือของบรรดาผู้อาวุโส
14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15จงเอาใจใส่เรื่องเหล่านี้และทุ่มเทตัวเองให้เต็มที่ เพื่อทุกคนจะเห็นความก้าวหน้าของคุณ
15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16จงเอาใจใส่ตัวเองและคำสอนของคุณ จงทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ต่อไป เพราะเมื่อทำเช่นนี้ คุณจะช่วยให้ทั้งตัวเองและคนที่ฟังคุณรอด
16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
