1คนที่เป็นทาสอยู่ใต้แอกทุกคนควรถือว่านายของตนสมควรได้รับเกียรติทุกประการ เพื่อพระนามของพระเจ้าและคำสอนจะไม่ถูกหมิ่นประมาท
1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2คนที่มีนายเป็นผู้เชื่ออย่าดูหมิ่นนายเพราะเป็นพี่น้อง แต่ยิ่งควรรับใช้นาย เพราะผู้ที่ได้รับประโยชน์จากการรับใช้นั้นเป็นผู้เชื่อและเป็นที่รัก จงสอนและเตือนสอนเรื่องเหล่านี้
2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them , because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3ถ้าใครสอนคำสอนที่ต่างออกไป และไม่ยอมรับถ้อยคำที่ถูกต้อง คือถ้อยคำขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเยซูคริสต์ของเรา และไม่ยอมรับคำสอนที่สอดคล้องกับความเคารพพระเจ้า
3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4คนนั้นหยิ่งผยองทั้งที่ไม่รู้อะไร แต่หมกมุ่นกับการถกเถียง ข้อโต้แย้ง และการทะเลาะกันเรื่องคำพูด ซึ่งก่อให้เกิดความอิจฉา การทะเลาะ การกล่าวร้าย และความระแวงชั่วร้าย
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6แต่ความเคารพพระเจ้าพร้อมกับความพอใจในสิ่งที่มีเป็นกำไรมาก
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7เพราะเราไม่ได้นำอะไรเข้ามาในโลก และแน่นอนว่าเราไม่สามารถนำอะไรออกไปได้
7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8ถ้าเรามีอาหารและเสื้อผ้า เราก็จะพอใจกับสิ่งเหล่านี้
8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9แต่คนที่มุ่งจะร่ำรวยย่อมตกเข้าสู่การทดลอง ติดกับดัก และตกอยู่ในความอยากมากมายที่โง่เขลาและเป็นอันตราย ซึ่งฉุดคนให้จมลงในความย่อยยับและความพินาศ
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10เพราะการรักเงินเป็นรากอย่างหนึ่งของความชั่วทุกชนิด บางคนโลภเงินจนหลงออกจากความเชื่อ และแทงตัวเองด้วยความทุกข์มากมาย
10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11แต่คุณ คนของพระเจ้า จงหนีจากสิ่งเหล่านี้ และติดตามความชอบธรรม ความเคารพพระเจ้า ความเชื่อ ความรัก ความอดทน และความสุภาพอ่อนโยน
11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12จงสู้ศึกอันดีของความเชื่อ จงยึดชีวิตนิรันดร์ไว้ ซึ่งเป็นชีวิตที่คุณได้รับการเรียกให้มารับ และคุณได้กล่าวคำประกาศยืนยันอันดีต่อหน้าพยานจำนวนมาก
12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13ข้าพเจ้ากำชับคุณต่อหน้าพระเจ้าผู้ประทานชีวิตแก่ทุกสิ่ง และต่อหน้าพระคริสต์เยซูผู้ได้เป็นพยานยืนยันคำประกาศอันดีต่อหน้าปอนทิอัสปีลาต
13I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14ให้คุณรักษาคำสั่งนี้ไว้โดยไม่มีด่างพร้อยและไม่มีที่ตำหนิ จนถึงการปรากฏขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเยซูคริสต์ของเรา
14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15ซึ่งพระองค์จะเผยให้เห็นในเวลาที่เหมาะสม พระองค์ผู้เป็นสุขและเป็นผู้ปกครองแต่ผู้เดียว เป็นกษัตริย์เหนือกษัตริย์ทั้งหลาย และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเหนือเจ้านายทั้งหลาย
15Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16พระองค์แต่ผู้เดียวมีความเป็นอมตะ และอยู่ในแสงสว่างที่ไม่มีใครเข้าใกล้ได้ ไม่มีมนุษย์คนใดเคยเห็นหรือสามารถเห็นพระองค์ได้ ขอเกียรติและอำนาจนิรันดร์จงมีแด่พระองค์ อาเมน
16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17จงกำชับคนร่ำรวยในยุคปัจจุบันไม่ให้หยิ่ง และไม่ให้ฝากความหวังไว้กับความไม่แน่นอนของทรัพย์สมบัติ แต่ให้ฝากความหวังไว้กับพระเจ้าผู้มีชีวิตอยู่ ผู้ประทานทุกสิ่งให้เราอย่างอุดมเพื่อให้เราได้เพลิดเพลินกับสิ่งเหล่านั้น
17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18จงกำชับให้พวกเขาทำดี ให้ร่ำรวยในการทำดี พร้อมที่จะให้ และเต็มใจแบ่งปัน
18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21บางคนประกาศว่าตนมีความรู้นี้ และด้วยเหตุนี้จึงหลงออกจากความเชื่อ ขอพระคุณอยู่กับพวกคุณ อาเมน
21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
