1เปโตร อัครทูตของพระเยซูคริสต์ ถึงผู้ที่พระเจ้าทรงเลือก ซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ในฐานะคนต่างถิ่นที่กระจัดกระจายอยู่ในปอนทัส กาลาเทีย คัปปาโดเกีย เอเชีย และบิธีเนีย
1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2ตามที่พระเจ้าพระบิดาทรงรู้ล่วงหน้า โดยพระวิญญาณทรงชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ เพื่อให้พวกคุณเชื่อฟังพระเยซูคริสต์ และรับการประพรมด้วยเลือดของพระองค์ ขอพระคุณและสันติสุขเพิ่มพูนแก่พวกคุณ
2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3ขอสรรเสริญพระเจ้า ผู้เป็นพระบิดาของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา ตามพระเมตตาอันยิ่งใหญ่ของพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงทำให้เราเกิดใหม่ ให้มีความหวังที่มีชีวิต โดยการฟื้นขึ้นจากความตายของพระเยซูคริสต์
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4และสู่มรดกที่ไม่เสื่อมสลาย ไม่ด่างพร้อย และไม่ร่วงโรย ซึ่งเก็บรักษาไว้ในสวรรค์เพื่อพวกคุณ
4To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5พลังของพระเจ้าปกป้องพวกคุณโดยความเชื่อ เพื่อความรอดที่พร้อมจะเปิดเผยในวาระสุดท้าย
5Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6พวกคุณจึงชื่นชมยินดีอย่างยิ่งในเรื่องนี้ แม้ตอนนี้ หากจำเป็น ต้องเศร้าอยู่ชั่วระยะหนึ่งเพราะการทดลองหลายอย่าง
6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8พวกคุณรักพระองค์ แม้ไม่เคยรู้จักพระองค์ด้วยตนเอง และแม้ตอนนี้ยังมองไม่เห็นพระองค์ แต่เพราะเชื่อในพระองค์ จึงชื่นชมยินดีอย่างยิ่ง ด้วยความยินดีที่เกินจะบรรยาย และเต็มด้วยพระสิริ
8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9เพราะกำลังได้รับผลของความเชื่อ คือความรอดของจิตของพวกคุณ
9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10เกี่ยวกับความรอดนี้ บรรดาผู้พยากรณ์ได้ค้นหาและสืบค้นอย่างละเอียด พวกเขาพยากรณ์ถึงพระคุณที่จะมาถึงพวกคุณ
10Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

12Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13ดังนั้น จงเตรียมความคิดให้พร้อม จงมีสติ และฝากความหวังทั้งหมดไว้กับพระคุณที่จะนำมาให้พวกคุณ ในวันที่พระเยซูคริสต์จะเปิดเผยพระองค์
13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14ในฐานะลูกที่เชื่อฟัง อย่าดำเนินชีวิตตามความปรารถนาเดิม เมื่อครั้งที่พวกคุณยังไม่รู้
14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15พระองค์ผู้ทรงเรียกพวกคุณทรงบริสุทธิ์เช่นไร พวกคุณเองก็จงบริสุทธิ์ในการดำเนินชีวิตทุกด้านเช่นนั้น
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16เพราะมีข้อความเขียนไว้ว่า “จงบริสุทธิ์ เพราะเราบริสุทธิ์”
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17ถ้าพวกคุณเรียกพระองค์ว่าพระบิดา ผู้ทรงพิพากษาทุกคนตามการกระทำของแต่ละคน โดยไม่ลำเอียง ก็จงใช้ช่วงเวลาที่อาศัยอยู่ที่นี่ในฐานะคนต่างถิ่นด้วยความยำเกรง
17And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18เพราะพวกคุณรู้ว่า ได้รับการไถ่ออกจากวิถีชีวิตอันไร้สาระที่รับสืบทอดมาจากบรรพบุรุษ ไม่ใช่ด้วยสิ่งที่เสื่อมสลายได้ เช่นเงินหรือทอง
18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19แต่ด้วยเลือดอันล้ำค่า เหมือนเลือดของลูกแกะที่ไม่มีตำหนิหรือด่างพร้อย คือเลือดของพระคริสต์
19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20พระองค์เป็นผู้ที่พระเจ้าทรงรู้จักล่วงหน้า ตั้งแต่ก่อนวางรากฐานของโลก แต่ทรงเปิดเผยพระองค์ในยุคสุดท้ายนี้เพื่อพวกคุณ
20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21โดยทางพระองค์ พวกคุณจึงเชื่อในพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงทำให้พระองค์ฟื้นขึ้นจากความตาย และประทานพระสิริแก่พระองค์ เพื่อให้ความเชื่อและความหวังอยู่ในพระเจ้า
21Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22เมื่อพวกคุณได้ชำระจิตของตนให้บริสุทธิ์ โดยเชื่อฟังความจริง โดยพระวิญญาณ จนมีความรักแบบพี่น้องอย่างจริงใจแล้ว จงรักกันจากใจอย่างแรงกล้า
22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23เพราะได้เกิดใหม่ ไม่ใช่จากเมล็ดพันธุ์ที่เสื่อมสลายได้ แต่จากเมล็ดพันธุ์ที่ไม่เสื่อมสลาย โดยถ้อยคำของพระเจ้า ซึ่งมีชีวิตและดำรงอยู่ตลอดไป
23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24เพราะว่า “มนุษย์ทุกคนเหมือนหญ้า และความรุ่งโรจน์ทั้งสิ้นของมนุษย์เหมือนดอกไม้ในทุ่งหญ้า หญ้าก็เหี่ยว และดอกไม้ก็ร่วง
24For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25แต่ถ้อยคำขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดำรงอยู่ตลอดไป” นี่คือถ้อยคำแห่งข่าวดีที่ได้ประกาศแก่พวกคุณ
25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
