1و لیکن روح صریح می‌گوید که در زمان آخر بعضی از ایمان برگشته، به ارواح مضل و تعالیم شیاطین اصغا خواهند نمود،
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2به ریاکاری دروغگویان که ضمایر خود را داغ کرده‌اند؛
2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3که از مزاوجت منع می‌کنند و حکم می‌نمایند به احتراز از خوراک هایی که خدا آفریدبرای مومنین و عارفین حق تا آنها را به شکرگزاری بخورند.
3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4زیرا که هر مخلوق خدا نیکو است وهیچ‌چیز را رد نباید کرد، اگر به شکرگزاری پذیرند،
4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5زیرا که از کلام خدا و دعا تقدیس می‌شود.
5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6اگر این امور را به برادران بسپاری، خادم نیکوی مسیح عیسی خواهی بود، تربیت یافته درکلام ایمان و تعلیم خوب که پیروی آن راکرده‌ای.
6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7لیکن از افسانه های حرام عجوزهااحتراز نما و در دینداری ریاضت بکش.
7But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8که ریاضت بدنی اندک فایده‌ای دارد، لیکن دینداری برای هر چیز مفید است که وعده زندگی حال وآینده را دارد.
8For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9این سخن امین است و لایق قبول تام،
9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10زیراکه برای این زحمت و بی‌احترامی می‌کشیم، زیراامید داریم به خدای زنده که جمیع مردمان علی الخصوص مومنین را نجات‌دهنده است.
10For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11این امور را حکم و تعلیم فرما.
11These things command and teach.
12هیچ‌کس جوانی تو را حقیر نشمارد، بلکه مومنین را درکلام و سیرت و محبت و ایمان و عصمت، نمونه باش.
12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13تا مادامی که نه آیم، خود را به قرائت ونصیحت و تعلیم بسپار.
13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14زنهار از آن کرامتی که در تو است که بوسیله نبوت با نهادن دستهای کشیشان به تو داده شد، بی‌اعتنایی منما.
14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15در این امور تامل نما و در اینها راسخ باش تا ترقی تو برهمه ظاهر شود.
15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16خویشتن را و تعلیم را احتیاطکن و در این امور قائم باش که هرگاه چنین کنی، خویشتن را و شنوندگان خویش را نیز نجات خواهی داد.
16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
