1Hier volgt een opsomming van de israëlietische familiehoofden, de aanvoerders van duizend en honderd, met hun beambten, die den koning dienden in alle aangelegenheden der legerkorpsen, welke alle maanden van het jaar maandelijks in en uitrukten. Elk korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
1Now the children of Israel according to their number, the heads of families, captains of thousands and of hundreds, and officers, that served the king according to their companies, who came in and went out every month in the year, under every chief were four and twenty thousand.
2Het eerste korps voor de eerste maand stond onder Jasjobam, den zoon van Zabdiël; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
2Over the first company the first month Jesboam, the son of Zabdiel was chief, and under him were four and twenty thousand.
3Hij stamde af van de zonen van Fáres, en was het hoofd van alle legeraanvoerders van de eerste maand.
3Of the sons of Phares, the chief of all the captains in the host in the first month.
4Het korps voor de tweede maand stond onder Dodai, uit de familie Achóach. De aanvoerder van zijn korps was Miklot; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
4The company of the second month was under Dudia, an Ahohite, and after him was another named Macelloth, who commanded a part of the army of four and twenty thousand.
5De legeraanvoerder voor de derde maand was Benajáhoe, de zoon van Jehojada, den opperpriester; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
5And the captain of the third company for the third month, was Banaias the son of Joiada the priest: and in his division were four and twenty thousand.
6Deze Benajáhoe was een van de dertig helden en aanvoerder van de Dertig; over zijn korps ging zijn zoon Ammizabad.
6This is that Banaias the most valiant among the thirty, and above the thirty. And Amizabad his son commanded his company.
7De vierde voor de vierde maand was Asaël, de broer van Joab. Hij werd opgevolgd door zijn zoon Zebadja; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
7The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zabadias his son after him: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
8De vijfde voor de vijfde maand was de vorst Sjamhoet van de familie Zara; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
8The fifth captain for the fifth month, was Samaoth a Jezerite: and his company were four and twenty thousand.
9De zesde voor de zesde maand was Ira, de zoon van Ikkesj uit Tekóa; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
9The sixth, for the sixth month, was Hira the son of Acces a Thecuite: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
10De zevende voor de zevende maand was Chéles uit Bet-Pélet, die van Efraïm stamde; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
10The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helles a Phallonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
11De achtste voor de achtste maand was Sibbekai van de familie Choesja uit het geslacht van Zara; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
11The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sobochai a Husathite of the race of Zarahi: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
12De negende voor de negende maand was Abiézer uit Anatot, de Benjamiet; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
12The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer an Anathothite of the sons of Jemini, and in His company were four and twenty thousand.
13De tiende voor de tiende maand was Maharai uit Netofa, uit het geslacht Zara; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
13The tenth, for the tenth month, was Marai, who was a Netophathite of the race of Zarai: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
14De elfde voor de elfde maand was Benaja uit Piraton, die van Efraïm stamde; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
14The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Banaias, a Pharathonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
15De twaalfde voor de twaalfde maand was Cheldai uit Netofa, die van Otniël stamde; zijn korps telde vier en twintigduizend man.
15The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Holdai a Netophathite, of the race of Gothoniel: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.
16De hoofden van de stammen Israëls waren: Eliëzer, de zoon van Zikri, van de stam Ruben; Sjefatjáhoe, de zoon van Maäka, van de stam Simeon;
16Now the chiefs over the tribes of Israel were these: over the Rubenites, Eliezer the son of Zechri was ruler: over the Simeonites, Saphatias the son of Maacha:
17Chasjabja, de zoon van Kemoeël, van de levieten, en Sadok van de aäronieten;
17Over the Levites, Hasabias the son of Camuel: over the Aaronites, Sadoc:
18Elihoe, een van Davids broers, van de stam Juda; Omri, de zoon van Mikaël, van de stam Issakar;
18Over Juda, Eliu the brother of David: over Issachar, Amri the son of Michael:
19Jisjmajáhoe, de zoon van Obadjáhoe, van Zabulon; Jerimot, de zoon van Azriël, van Neftali;
19Over the Zabulonites, Jesmaias the son of Adias: over the Nephtalites, Jerimoth the son of Ozriel:
20Hosjéa, de zoon van Azazjáhoe, van de zonen van Efraïm; Joël, de zoon van Pedajáhoe, van de halve stam Manasse;
20Over the sons of Ephraim, Osee the: son of Ozaziu: over the half tribe of Manasses, Joel the son of Phadaia:
21Jiddo, de zoon van Zekarjáhoe, van de helft van Manasse in Gilad; Jaäsiël, de zoon van Abner, van Benjamin;
21And over the half tribe of Manasses: in Galaad, Jaddo the son of Zacharias: and over Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abner.
22Azarel, de zoon van Jerocham, van Dan. Dit waren de stamhoofden van Israël.
22And over Dan, Ezrihel the son of Jeroham: these were the princes of the children of Israel.
23Het aantal van hen, die onder de twintig jaar waren, heeft David niet laten opnemen, omdat Jahweh beloofd had, de zonen Israëls zo talrijk te maken als de sterren aan de hemel.
23But David would not number them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said that he would multiply Israel like the stars of heaven.
24Wel was Joab, de zoon van Seroeja, begonnen met een volkstelling, maar omdat er tengevolge van deze poging een ramp over Israël was gekomen, kwam hij niet klaar. Daarom is dat aantal ook niet opgenomen in het boek der kronieken van koning David.
24Joab the son of Sarvia began to number, but he finished not: because upon this there fell wrath upon Israel: and therefore the number of them that were numbered, was not registered in the chronicles of king David.
25De schatten des konings werden beheerd door Azmawet, den zoon van Adiël; de bezittingen op het land, in de steden, de dorpen en de vestingen door Jehonatan, den zoon van Oezzi-jáhoe.
25And over the king’s treasures was Azmoth the son of Adiel: and over those stores which were in the cities, and is the villages, and in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Ozias.
26Opzichter van de landarbeiders, die de grond bewerkten, was Ezri, de zoon van Keloeb.
26And over the tillage, and the husbandmen, who tilled the ground, was Ezri the son of Chelub:
27Over de wijngaarden ging Sjimi uit Rama; over de voorraden in de wijngaarden en de wijnkelders ging Zabdi, de Sjifmiet.
27And over the dressers of the vineyards, was Semeias a Romathite: and over the wine cellars, Zabdias an Aphonite.
28Over de olijf- en moerbeiplantingen in de Sjefela ging Báal-Chanan uit Gader, over de voorraden Joasj.
28And over the oliveyards and the fig groves, which were in the plains, was Balanam a Gederite: and over the oil cellars, Joas.
29Het vee, dat in de Sjaronvlakte weidde, werd verzorgd door Sjitrai uit Sjaron; het vee in de dalen door Sjafat, den zoon van Adlai.
29And over the herds that fed in Saron, was Setrai a Saronite: and over the. oxen in the valleys, Saphat the son of Adli:
30Voor de kamelen zorgde Obil, de Jisjmaëliet; voor de ezels Jechdejáhoe uit Meronot;
30And over the camels, Ubil an Ishmahelite: and over the asses, Jadias a Meronathite:
31voor de schapen Jaziz van de stam Hagri. Al dezen beheerden de bezittingen van koning David.
31And over the sheep Jazia an Agarene. All these were the rulers of the substance of king David.
32Jonatan, een oom van David en een kundig man, was raadsman en geheimschrijver; Jechiël was belast met de opvoeding der koningskinderen.
32And Jonathan David’s uncle, a counsellor, a wise and learned man: he and Jahiel the son of Hachamoni were with the king’s sons.
33Achitófel was eveneens koninklijk raadsman, en Choesjai, van de familie Arki, de vertrouwensman van den koning.
33And Achitophel was the king’s counsellor, and Chusai the Arachite, the king’s friend.
34Na Achitófel waren het Jehojada, de zoon van Benajáhoe, en Ebjatar. De legeroverste des konings was Joab.
34And after Achitophel was Joiada the son of Banaias, and Abiathar. And the general of the king’s army was Joab.
