1「人の子よ、鋭い剣を取り、それを理髪師のかみそりのように用いて、頭とひげをそり落とせ。それから秤を取り、その毛を量って分けよ。
1And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp sword, as a barber's razor shalt thou take it unto thee, and cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard; then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
2包囲の日数が終わった時、その三分の一を町の中で火に焼け。三分の一を取り、町の周りで剣で打て。残りの三分の一を風に散らせ。わたしはその後を剣で追う。
2A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, and smite it with the sword round about her; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.
3その中から少しを取り、衣の裾に包め。
3Thou shalt also take thereof a few by number, and bind them in thy skirts.
4さらにその中から幾らかを取り、火の中に投げ入れて焼け。そこから火が出て、イスラエルの全家に及ぶ。
4And of them again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
5主なる神はこう言われる。『これがエルサレムである。わたしは彼女を諸国民のただ中に置き、その周囲に国々を置いた。
5Thus saith the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem! I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are round about her.
6しかし彼女は悪を行い、諸国民よりも激しくわたしの定めに逆らい、周囲の国々よりもわたしの掟に逆らった。彼らはわたしの定めを退け、わたしの掟に従って歩まなかった。』
6And she hath rebelled against Mine ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against My statutes more than the countries that are round about her; for they have rejected Mine ordinances, and as for My statutes, they have not walked in them.
7それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。『あなたがたは周囲の国々よりもひどく乱れ、わたしの掟に従って歩まず、わたしの定めを守らず、周囲の国々の定めに従うことさえしなかった。
7Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Because ye have outdone the nations that are round about you, in that ye have not walked in My statutes, neither have kept Mine ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you;
8それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。見よ、わたし自身があなたに敵対し、諸国民の目の前で、あなたの中に裁きを行う。
8therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and I will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
9あなたのすべての忌むべき行いのために、わたしはかつて行ったこともなく、二度と同じようには行わないことを、あなたの中で行う。
9And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.
10それゆえ、あなたの中で父が子を食べ、子が父を食べる。わたしはあなたに裁きを行い、あなたの残りの者をすべて四方の風に散らす。
10Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter unto all the winds.
11それゆえ、わたしは生きている』と、主なる神は言われる。『あなたがあらゆる忌まわしいものと、あらゆる忌むべき行いによってわたしの聖所を汚したので、わたしもあなたを削り減らす。わたしの目は惜しまず、あわれみをかけない。
11Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely, because thou hast defiled My sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall Mine eye spare, and I also will have no pity.
12あなたの三分の一は、あなたの中で疫病によって死に、飢饉によって滅びる。三分の一は、あなたの周囲で剣に倒れる。残りの三分の一を、わたしは四方の風に散らし、その後を剣で追う。
12A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and a third part I will scatter unto all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them.
13こうして、わたしの怒りは全うされる。わたしは彼らの上に憤りを休ませ、満足する。わたしが彼らの上に憤りを全うする時、彼らは、主であるわたしが熱情をもって語ったことを知る。
13Thus shall Mine anger spend itself, and I will satisfy My fury upon them, and I will be eased; and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken in My zeal, when I have spent My fury upon them.
14わたしはあなたを荒れ果てた所とし、周囲の国々の間で、通り過ぎるすべての者の目の前で、そしりの的とする。
14Moreover I will make thee an amazement and a reproach, among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
15わたしが怒りと憤りと激しい懲らしめをもって、あなたに裁きを行う時、あなたは周囲の国々にとって、そしりとあざけり、戒めと驚きの的となる。主であるわたしが語った。
15So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury, and in furious rebukes; I the LORD have spoken it;
16わたしは彼らに、滅ぼすための飢饉という悪い矢を放ち、あなたがたを滅ぼす。わたしはあなたがたの上に飢饉を増し加え、パンの支えを断つ。
16when I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you; and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread;
17わたしはあなたがたに飢饉と悪い獣を送り、それらはあなたがたから子を奪う。疫病と流血があなたがたの中を通り過ぎる。わたしはあなたがたの上に剣をもたらす。主であるわたしが語った。』」
17and I will send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it.'
