1主の言葉が私に臨んだ。
1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
2「人の子よ、アンモンの子らに顔を向け、彼らに対して預言せよ。
2'Son of man, set thy face toward the children of Ammon, and prophesy against them;
3アンモンの子らに言え。『主なる神の言葉を聞け。主なる神はこう言われる。「わたしの聖所が汚されたとき、イスラエルの地が荒れ果てたとき、ユダの家が捕囚となったとき、あなたはそれらに向かって、『ああ、よい気味だ』と言った。
3and say unto the children of Ammon: Hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because thou saidst: Aha! against My sanctuary, when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel, when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
4それゆえ、見よ、わたしはあなたを東方の民に渡して、その所有とする。彼らはあなたの中に陣営を置き、住まいを設ける。彼らはあなたの果実を食べ、あなたの乳を飲む。
4therefore, behold, I will deliver thee to the children of the east for a possession, and they shall set their encampments in thee, and make their dwellings in thee; they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.
5わたしはラバをらくだの放牧場とし、アンモンの子らの地を羊の群れの休み場とする。そのとき、あなたがたは、わたしが主であることを知る。」
5And I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and the children of Ammon a couching-place for flocks; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
6主なる神はこう言われる。「あなたはイスラエルの地に向かって手を打ち、足を踏み鳴らし、心の底から侮って喜んだ。
6For thus saith the Lord GOD: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the disdain of thy soul against the land of Israel;
7それゆえ、見よ、わたしはあなたに向かって手を伸ばし、あなたを諸国の略奪物として渡す。わたしはあなたを諸民族の中から断ち切り、国々の中から消し去り、あなたを滅ぼす。そのとき、あなたは、わたしが主であることを知る。」
7therefore, behold, I stretch out My hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the peoples, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries; I will destroy thee, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
8主なる神はこう言われる。「モアブとセイルは、『見よ、ユダの家もすべての諸国と同じだ』と言った。
8Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because that Moab and Seir do say: Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the nations,
9それゆえ、見よ、わたしはモアブの側面を、その国境にある町々、その地の誉れであるベテ・エシモテ、バアル・メオン、キルヤタイムから開く。
9therefore, behold, I will open the flank of Moab on the side of the cities, on the side of his cities which are on his frontiers, the beauteous country of Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim,
10わたしはそれを東方の民に開き、彼らをアンモンの子らに攻めかからせる。そして、アンモンの子らを彼らの所有とする。こうして、アンモンの子らは諸国の間で思い起こされなくなる。
10together with the children of Ammon, unto the children of the east, and I will give them for a possession, that the children of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations;
11わたしはモアブに裁きを行う。そのとき、彼らは、わたしが主であることを知る。」
11and I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
12主なる神はこう言われる。「エドムはユダの家に復讐し、彼らに復讐することによって大きな罪を犯した。」
12Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;
13それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。「わたしはエドムに向かって手を伸ばし、そこから人と動物を断ち切る。テマンからデダンに至るまで、その地を荒れ果てさせる。彼らは剣に倒れる。
13therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: I will stretch out My hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman, even unto Dedan shall they fall by the sword.
14わたしは、わたしの民イスラエルの手によってエドムに復讐する。彼らはわたしの怒りと憤りに従ってエドムを扱う。そのとき、彼らはわたしの復讐を知る」と主なる神は言われる。
14And I will lay My vengeance upon Edom by the hand of My people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to Mine anger and according to My fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.
15主なる神はこう言われる。「ペリシテ人は復讐を行い、心の底から侮り、絶え間ない敵意をもって復讐し、滅ぼそうとした。」
15Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with disdain of soul to destroy, for the old hatred;
16それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。「見よ、わたしはペリシテ人に向かって手を伸ばし、ケレテ人を断ち切り、海辺に残る者を滅ぼす。
16therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will stretch out My hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and destroy the remnant of the sea-coast.
17わたしは怒りに満ちた懲らしめをもって、彼らに大いなる復讐を行う。わたしが彼らに復讐するとき、彼らは、わたしが主であることを知る。」』」
17And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay My vengeance upon them.'
