1เมื่ออับรามอายุ 99 ปี พระยาห์เวห์ปรากฏแก่เขา และกล่าวว่า “เราคือพระเจ้าผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ จงดำเนินไปต่อหน้าเรา และเป็นคนไม่มีที่ติ
1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him: 'I am God Almighty; walk before Me, and be thou wholehearted.
2เราจะทำพันธสัญญาระหว่างเรากับเจ้า และจะให้ลูกหลานของเจ้าทวีจำนวนอย่างยิ่ง”
2And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.'
3อับรามหมอบลงหน้าจรดดิน พระเจ้ากล่าวกับเขาว่า
3And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying:
4“ส่วนเราพันธสัญญาของเราอยู่กับเจ้า เจ้าจะเป็นบิดาของชนชาติมากมาย
4'As for Me, behold, My covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations.
5ต่อไปเจ้าจะไม่ชื่ออับรามแต่จะชื่ออับราฮัมเพราะเราได้ทำให้เจ้าเป็นบิดาของชนชาติมากมาย
5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
6เราจะทำให้เจ้ามีลูกหลานมากอย่างยิ่ง หลายชนชาติจะเกิดจากเจ้าและกษัตริย์หลายองค์จะสืบเชื้อสายจากเจ้า
6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7เราจะตั้งพันธสัญญาของเราระหว่างเรากับเจ้าและกับลูกหลานของเจ้าหลังจากเจ้าตลอดทุกรุ่นเป็นพันธสัญญานิรันดร์ เราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเจ้าและของลูกหลานที่มาหลังเจ้า
7And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.
8เราจะมอบดินแดนคานาอันทั้งหมด ที่เจ้าอาศัยอยู่ชั่วคราวนี้ ให้เจ้าและลูกหลานหลังจากเจ้าเป็นที่ครอบครองตลอดไป และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของพวกเขา”
8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.'
9พระเจ้ากล่าวกับอับราฮัมว่า“ส่วนเจ้าต้องรักษาพันธสัญญาของเราทั้งเจ้าและลูกหลานหลังจากเจ้าตลอดทุกรุ่น
9And God said unto Abraham: 'And as for thee, thou shalt keep My covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations.
10นี่คือพันธสัญญาของเราซึ่งพวกเจ้าต้องรักษาระหว่างเรากับพวกเจ้าและลูกหลานหลังจากพวกเจ้า ผู้ชายทุกคนในหมู่พวกเจ้าต้องเข้าสุหนัต
10This is My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised.
11พวกเจ้าต้องขริบหนังหุ้มปลายอวัยวะเพศ นี่จะเป็นเครื่องหมายของพันธสัญญาระหว่างเรากับพวกเจ้า
11And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt Me and you.
12ตลอดทุกรุ่น เด็กผู้ชายทุกคนในหมู่พวกเจ้า เมื่ออายุครบ 8 วัน ต้องเข้าสุหนัต ไม่ว่าจะเกิดในเรือน หรือถูกซื้อมาด้วยเงินจากคนต่างชาติที่ไม่ใช่ลูกหลานของเจ้า
12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner, that is not of thy seed.
13ทั้งคนที่เกิดในเรือนของเจ้าและคนที่เจ้าซื้อมาด้วยเงินต้องเข้าสุหนัต พันธสัญญาของเราจะอยู่ในเนื้อหนังของพวกเจ้าเป็นพันธสัญญานิรันดร์
13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised; and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14ผู้ชายที่ไม่เข้าสุหนัต คือไม่ได้ขริบหนังหุ้มปลาย จะถูกตัดขาดจากหมู่ชนของตน เพราะเขาได้ทำลายพันธสัญญาของเรา”
14And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken My covenant.'
15พระเจ้ากล่าวกับอับราฮัมว่า“ส่วนซารายภรรยาของเจ้าต่อไปอย่าเรียกนางว่าซารายแต่ชื่อของนางจะเป็นซาราห์
15And God said unto Abraham: 'As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16เราจะอวยพรนาง ยิ่งกว่านั้น นางจะคลอดลูกชายให้เจ้า เราจะอวยพรนาง และนางจะเป็นแม่ของหลายชนชาติ กษัตริย์ของหลายชนชาติจะสืบเชื้อสายจากนาง”
16And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her; yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be of her.'
17อับราฮัมหมอบลงหน้าจรดดินแล้วหัวเราะพลางคิดในใจว่า“คนอายุ 100 ปีจะมีลูกได้หรือ ซาราห์อายุ 90 ปีแล้วจะคลอดลูกได้หรือ”
17Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart: 'Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?'
18อับราฮัมพูดกับพระเจ้าว่า“ขอให้อิชมาเอลมีชีวิตอยู่ต่อหน้าพระองค์เถิด”
18And Abraham said unto God: 'Oh that Ishmael might live before Thee!'
19พระเจ้ากล่าวว่า “ไม่ใช่ ซาราห์ภรรยาของเจ้าจะคลอดลูกชายให้เจ้า ตั้งชื่อเขาว่าอิสอัค เราจะตั้งพันธสัญญาของเรากับเขาเป็นพันธสัญญานิรันดร์ สำหรับลูกหลานของเขาหลังจากเขา
19And God said: 'Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.
20ส่วนอิชมาเอล เราได้ยินคำของเจ้าแล้ว เราได้อวยพรเขา และจะทำให้เขามีลูกหลานมาก เพิ่มจำนวนอย่างยิ่ง เขาจะเป็นบิดาของประมุข 12 คน และเราจะทำให้เขาเป็นชนชาติใหญ่
20And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee; behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21แต่เราจะตั้งพันธสัญญาของเรากับอิสอัคซึ่งซาราห์จะคลอดให้เจ้าตามเวลาที่กำหนดในปีหน้า”
21But My covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.'
22เมื่อพระเจ้ากล่าวกับเขาเสร็จแล้ว ก็ขึ้นไปจากอับราฮัม
22And He left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
23วันเดียวกันนั้น อับราฮัมพาอิชมาเอลลูกชายของเขา รวมทั้งผู้ชายทุกคนในครัวเรือน ทั้งคนที่เกิดในเรือน และคนที่ซื้อมาด้วยเงิน มาขริบหนังหุ้มปลาย ตามที่พระเจ้ากล่าวกับเขา
23And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
24อับราฮัมอายุ 99 ปี ตอนที่ขริบหนังหุ้มปลาย
24And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25อิชมาเอลลูกชายของเขาอายุ 13 ปี ตอนที่ขริบหนังหุ้มปลาย
25And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26ในวันเดียวกันนั้นอับราฮัมและอิชมาเอลลูกชายของเขาต่างก็เข้าสุหนัต
26In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27ผู้ชายทุกคนในครัวเรือนของเขาทั้งคนที่เกิดในเรือนและคนที่ซื้อมาด้วยเงินจากคนต่างชาติต่างก็เข้าสุหนัตพร้อมกับเขา
27And all the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money of a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
