1ダビデの子、アブラハムの子であるイエス・キリストの系図。
1The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2アブラハムにイサクが生まれ、イサクにヤコブが生まれ、ヤコブにユダとその兄弟たちが生まれた。
2Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.
3ユダとタマルの間にペレツとゼラが生まれ、ペレツにヘツロンが生まれ、ヘツロンにラムが生まれた。
3And Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.
4ラムにアミナダブが生まれ、アミナダブにナフションが生まれ、ナフションにサルモンが生まれた。
4And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.
5サルモンとラハブの間にボアズが生まれ、ボアズとルツの間にオベデが生まれ、オベデにエッサイが生まれた。
5And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse.
6エッサイにダビデ王が生まれた。ダビデ王と、ウリヤの妻との間にソロモンが生まれた。
6And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias.
7ソロモンにレハブアムが生まれ、レハブアムにアビヤが生まれ、アビヤにアサが生まれた。
7And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.
8アサにヨシャファトが生まれ、ヨシャファトにヨラムが生まれ、ヨラムにウジヤが生まれた。
8And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.
9ウジヤにヨタムが生まれ、ヨタムにアハズが生まれ、アハズにヒゼキヤが生まれた。
9And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.
10ヒゼキヤにマナセが生まれ、マナセにアモンが生まれ、アモンにヨシヤが生まれた。
10And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.
11バビロン捕囚のころ、ヨシヤにエコニヤとその兄弟たちが生まれた。
11And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.
12バビロン捕囚の後、エコニヤにシェアルティエルが生まれ、シェアルティエルにゼルバベルが生まれた。
12And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.
13ゼルバベルにアビウドが生まれ、アビウドにエリアキムが生まれ、エリアキムにアゾルが生まれた。
13And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.
14アゾルにツァドクが生まれ、ツァドクにアキムが生まれ、アキムにエリウドが生まれた。
14And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.
15エリウドにエレアザルが生まれ、エレアザルにマタンが生まれ、マタンにヤコブが生まれた。
15And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.
16ヤコブに、マリアの夫ヨセフが生まれた。このマリアから、キリストと呼ばれるイエス が生まれた。
16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17こうして、アブラハムからダビデまでが全部で十四代、ダビデからバビロン捕囚までが十四代、バビロン捕囚からキリストまでが十四代である。
17So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18さて、イエス・キリストの誕生は次のようであった。母マリアはヨセフと婚約していたが、二人が一緒になる前に、聖霊によって身ごもっていることが分かった。
18Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.
19夫ヨセフは義人で、彼女をさらし者にしたくなかったので、ひそかに離縁しようと考えた。
19Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.
20彼がこのことを思い巡らしていると、見よ、 主の使いが夢に現れて言った。「ダビデの子ヨセフよ、恐れずにマリアを妻として迎えなさい。彼女に宿っている子は聖霊によるものだからだ。
20But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.
21彼女は男の子を産む。その名をイエスとつけなさい。この方こそ、ご自分の民をその罪から救う方だからだ。」
21And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.
22このすべてのことが起こったのは、主が預言者を通して語られたことが成就するためである。
22Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
23「見よ、処女が身ごもり、 男の子を産む。 人々はその名をインマヌエルと呼ぶ。」 これは訳すと、「神はわれわれと共におられる」という意味である。
23Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24ヨセフは眠りから覚めると、主の使いに命じられたとおりにして、妻を迎え入れた。
24And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
25しかし、彼女が初子となる男の子を産むまでは、彼女と性的な関係を持たなかった。そして、その子をイエスと名づけた。
25And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
