1LIBRO della generazione di Gesù Cristo, figliuolo di Davide, figliuolo di Abrahamo.
1The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2Abrahamo generò Isacco; ed Isacco generò Giacobbe; e Giacobbe generò Giuda, ed i suoi fratelli.
2Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.
3E Giuda generò Fares, e Zara, di Tamar; e Fares generò Esrom; ed Esrom generò Aram.
3And Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.
4Ed Aram generò Aminadab; ed Aminadab generò Naasson; e Naasson generò Salmon.
4And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.
5E Salmon generò Booz, di Rahab; e Booz generò Obed, di Rut; ed Obed generò Iesse.
5And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse.
6E Iesse generò il re Davide. E il re Davide generò Salomone, di quella ch'era stata di Uria.
6And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias.
7E Salomone generò Roboamo; e Roboamo generò Abia; ed Abia generò Asa.
7And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.
8Ed Asa generò Giosafat; e Giosafat generò Gioram; e Gioram generò Hozia.
8And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.
9E Hozia generò Ioatam; e Ioatam generò Achaz; ed Achaz generò Ezechia.
9And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.
10Ed Ezechia generò Manasse; e Manasse generò Amon; ed Amon generò Giosia.
10And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.
11E Giosia generò Ieconia, e i suoi fratelli che furono al tempo del la cattività di Babilonia.
11And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.
12E, dopo la cattività di Babilonia, Ieconia generò Salatiel; e Salatiel generò Zorobabel.
12And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.
13E Zorobabel generò Abiud; ed Abiud generò Eliachim; ed Eliachim generò Azor.
13And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.
14Ed Azor generò Sadoc; e Sadoc generò Achim; ed Achim generò Eliud.
14And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.
15Ed Eliud generò Eleazaro; ed Eleazaro generò Mattan; e Mattan generò Giacobbe.
15And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.
16E Giacobbe generò Giuseppe, marito di Maria, della quale è nato Gesù, che è nominato Cristo.
16And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17Così tutte le generazioni, da Abrahamo fino a Davide, son quattordici generazioni; e da Davide fino alla cattività di Babilonia, altresì quattordici; e dalla cattività di Babilonia fino a Cristo, altresì quattordici.
17So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18OR la natività di Gesù Cristo avvenne in questo modo. Maria, sua madre, essendo stata sposata a Giuseppe, avanti che fossero venuti a stare insieme si trovò gravida; il che era dello Spirito Santo.
18Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.
19E Giuseppe, suo marito, essendo uomo giusto, e non volendola pubblicamente infamare, voleva occultamente lasciarla.
19Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.
20Ma, avendo queste cose nell'animo, ecco, un angelo del Signore gli apparve in sogno, dicendo: Giuseppe, figliuol di Davide, non temere di ricever Maria, tua moglie; perciocchè, ciò che in essa è generato è dello Spirito Santo.
20But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.
21Ed ella partorirà un figliuolo, e tu gli porrai nome Gesù; perciocchè egli salverà il suo popolo da' lor peccati.
21And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.
22Or tutto ciò avvenne, acciocchè si adempiesse quello ch'era stato detto dal Signore, per lo profeta, dicendo:
22Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
23Ecco, la Vergine sarà gravida, e partorirà un figliuolo, il qual sarà chiamato Emmanuele; il che, interpretato, vuol dire: Dio con noi.
23Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24E Giuseppe, destatosi dal sonno, fece secondo che l'angelo del Signore gli avea comandato, e ricevette la sua moglie.
24And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
25Ma egli non la conobbe, finchè ebbe partorito il suo figliuol primogenito. Ed ella gli pose nome Gesù.
25And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
